yes they did. My reason to expedite was that I couldn't afford out of state fee to enroll in college without the green card. Their reason to deny me: "There's a choice here, you don't have to go to college".

You can claim financial loss for your job but I can see the same "reasoning" they might put on you "you don't have to take the job".. But no hurt to try

Yes, that's most of the time how i-485 is expedited. Regular immigration officers cannot approve i-485 expedite request. A supervisor needs to review it. I tried a few years ago myself, and I did go to infopass appointment and they denied it lol

The files need to be at NBC before forwarding it to local field office. USCIS stores files in a lot of places like FRC, NRC.

Rescheduling is a mess with USCIS. Try to go early instead of on time and let the guard know of your situation. They probably will be okay with one person waiting outside with the kids and do the biometrics afterwards.

Unfortunately a lot, I see it every week on that fb group and they just “happen” to be March-May 2020 filers. They (field office) were either nice enough to just do the interview and hold off on the decision (forever waiting there till Afile is received) or just cancel the interview.

Just to clarify here, The 2 years requirement is only for obtaining the green card for international adoption to get a green card, they are your step child so it's irrelevant.

After they entered the US and obtained the green card, the Child Citizenship Act of 2000 comes play. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/Intercountry-Adoption/adopt_ref/adoption-FAQs/child-citizenship-act-of-2000.html

Nope. https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-d-chapter-6 "Although an applicant may file early according to the 90 day early filing provision, the applicant is not eligible for naturalization until he or she has reached the required five-year period of continuous residence as a lawful permanent resident (LPR)."
If you read iSonic's posts you'll notice that it's not clear when N-400 was filed in relation to the PR anniversary date. https://www.visajourney.com/profile/393666-isonic/content/ Even if it turns out that USCIS made a mistake in that 1 case, both the USCIS Policy Manual and the law (INA 334(a)) are explicitly clear on the matter. "In the case of an applicant subject to a requirement of continuous residence under section 1427(a) or 1430(a) of this title, the application for naturalization may be filed up to 3 months before the date the applicant would first otherwise meet such continuous residence requirement."

I also received my GC and only a week or so later, I received the approval notice. I think the card is produced in NBC while the approval is maybe printed in the service center? I don't know, but I think it's not super important anyway

SO- out of the blue - having just seen the update processing times yesterday morning, I was prepared for a LONG wait for my GC to come from LIN - and yesterday afternoon a notification appeared on my phone - that my case was approved! 😁

This was SO much quicker than I was expecting after having had such long waits with the K1 and the EAD and the AOS.  I will have been in the US for four years next week and married since August 2017.  This bit went so much quicker than the other bits!  I have just spent an hour catching up on your posts and comments here (I started this thread in October) and it is lovely to see the spreadsheet filling up and your posts helping and sharing and celebrating (and commiserating) with each other.  It's so much easier to go through with others who know what you are going through too!

So, waiting for the approval notice in the mail - and my Green Card to follow!

You can file now and move after. As long as you have lived in the place where you are now for 90 days, you can file there.

Just file the AR-11 when you move, then will automatically transfer the case to the new local office.
