My new green card arrived today. Thank you to everyone in this thread who has helped me. This part of the journey is now closed.

See yall in the N400 thread.

Common mistake..easy to fix just resending it.  Don't do it on citizenship, as they'll wait until it's adjudicated to reject it.

Nope, we've been lucky in that regard.  No interviews or RFE's for ROC or the I-130.  This website was very helpful in preparing for that.  Now just waiting for citizenship.

We got our approval notice.  A little worried in that supposedly USPS delivered a priority mail package as well today from Lees Summit, MO, but we don't actually have anything.  Hopefully, it'll come tomorrow and we'll finally have our 10 year green card.

Read and respond truthfully but to the precise question you asked.  You didn't misrepresent yourself to obtain a government benefit.  Honest and done.  They're also much more concerned about people misrepresenting themselves as citizens.

I honestly think this falls under “overthinking”. It’s a bank account, it’s not a government program or official agency or registering to vote.

The Case tracker app and egov.uscis.gov show "New card is being produced".  When I log onto my.uscis.gov it still lists "fingerprint review completed".  Which one of these is correct?  I'm potentially very excited

I think the best course of action is to wait for your extension letter and then take action.

You're still a permanent resident until a federal judge tells you otherwise. USCIS can giveth but cannot taketh away your residence. Keep us posted.

    Hey guys!

So I sent my response to the RFE from SRC (they said my petition was filed late, while it wasn’t). The response is just on its way, definitely has not made it to Texas yet.

BUT! This morning I got a notification “New Card Is Being Produced”! What???!!!

I wonder if the USCIS contact center officer who I spoke to on the phone somehow helped the case? I don’t know, and I just hope this is not a mistake

I disagree with the suggestion to make changes (like refinancing) once you've already gotten an RFE.  I think your strongest evidence is to supplement with what evidence already exists.  It looks less convincing to do something after an RFE and then provide it as evidence.

I think it was just an update to the phrasing...everything else is still the same including the date of the last change.

Yep, we didn't get a reminder or anything.  It's 100% your responsibility to file for ROC on time, so stay on top of it.

Just in case you aren't aware, there's a specific military help line for USCIS. They will probably be more familiar with options and hopefully more sympathetic to your situation:

I'll point out that what you read here on VJ is not representative, there is selection bias.  People that have trouble or need help are much more likely to post about it than people for whom it goes off without a hitch.  Don't assume statistics based on just what you read on an online forum.

I hired an immigration attorney, also because my fiance is busy with work and thought hiring someone to do so would be easier
and guess what? you still need to gather every documents by urself
the only thing the attorney, and her legal assistant, does is to ask more details of everything ( more pic for proof of relation, more details for financial support)
we did had our application approved in one go, thanks to the attorney (maybe)
but before that, my fiance had to stop by their office almost every week, to drop off more file they found needed. and when they finally decided they had everything, they ask if we want to use express service or USPS.
we paid over 2000 for the attorney, and the fee doesnt cover delivery fee!

Yep, the NOA's are not nicely printed, but we've had no trouble at all with it.  India itself will not care about his country of residence, just his country of citizenship for entry/exit.  Don't worry about traveling.

Sadly, you can't plan your life around the biometrics.  Timelines have varied from 2 weeks after submission to 5 months (like us) to 1 year (like many filers from a year ago).  Unfortunately, they don't give you a ton of time either once they send the notice.  I'd recommend having a friend or family keep an eye on your mail and dealing with any USCIS mail while you travel.

AstroCanada got a reaction from millefleur in Filling I-751 - To use an attorney or not?
That's really the rub.  90% of the work for ROC is finding and organizing your own paperwork.  The attorney isn't going to help with that part.

The other thing I'd say is that I've had a few friends use attorneys, and the attorneys actually made mistakes that slowed them down that I knew to avoid from VJ.  For example, for one of my friends filing AOS, her lawyer didn't file for AP, and she couldn't leave the country until it was approved.
