Get the stamp. God forbid you have an emergency and need to leave the country or something. ROC takes 12 months+ these days - a long time to be without proof of residence.

A whole lot of nothing out of VSC again - seems like they are not working on ROCs at all.

Perfectly normal to still be waiting. They are backlogged beyond belief.

There have been no reported VSC approvals in the Jan 2018 thread for weeks - there was one random one a few weeks ago, nothing since. Does not look like VSC is working on Jan 2018 at all right now.

Well, look on the bright side. At least you are getting something. I haven't heard a peep since doing my biometrics.

As I have no hope to receive my GC before my 1 year extension letter expires - after all it doesn't seem VSC is actually approving anything - I braved the DMV/MVC today to get another drivers license to cover me through the expiry of my 18month extension letter. Hours of waiting of course, but at least they didn't give me trouble about the documents...now I wish this process could be over already. Cannot file for N-400 either as Germany does not allow dual citizenship.

Bad luck & bad training of the officer. Extension letters cut it - I have had no issue with mine on multiple international travels. Sorry you had to go through that.

Yeah that's where I'm hesitating. If we were to move away and back to the US, I don't want to go through this mess again. But if I end up having to pay taxes in the US for the rest of my life while not being here, that's also a huge bummer.

That's fair. I have a French passport so it's definitely a more useful one.

Same sex couple here as well :). I agree that the current atmosphere is also a strong push towards getting the citizenship. Tween it's good that you guys have a plan and that you know you're going back to the UK. You can indeed have dual citizenship, but if you know you are going back to the UK for good later, you should probably stick to the Green Card so you don't have to worry about taxation later.

The only reason I stayed here is because I got married, if it wasn't for that I would have left the US years ago. So, sure, technically I am not forced, but I decided that being with the person I love outweighs the burden of being here. I certainly won't apologize for that! But I'll maintain that the quality of life in the US is a tad inferior to a lot of western european countries.

Thanks everyone for answering, that gives a lot of interesting perspectives and some food for thought. I guess my next step will be to really sink my teeth into figuring out the tax aspects of being naturalized and moving overseas, as it's still a bit blurry.

Sorry for the slight OT, now back to hoping that VSC shifts to second gear and catches up with CSC soon  .

If my case has been transferred, I don't know about it. My case status has been stuck on case received since Jan 2017.

I managed to look up my case (also EAC18071... by the way) on the new USCIS site - just says Case received, did not even update the fingerprinting.

We'll keep waiting. In any case, congrats on the approvals.

Makes you wonder what system - or rather absence thereof - USCIS has.

Yeah, I am not buying it...single posts, no timelines...even if there actually were approvals, they are gonna be the exceptions for months to come.

I did K1. Because it was a few months faster. Would never do it again. For me, the immigrant, who has always lived independently & supported herself, the first few months in the US without were the 7th circle of hell due to the adjustment of status process. And it has only gotten a longer wait since I immigrated in late 2015.

Happy 1 year filing anniversary! I am so over this waiting...maybe another 6 months? I just hope the GC shows up before my 18 month extension letter expires...

That is something very personal to the couple - I (the immigrant) would have been very upset if my husband had that attitude. I have lived independently my entire life, spent years gaining advanced degrees to further my career, always made my own money and have a passion for what I do. So one of my first priorities was getting a job in my field. Otherwise I don't think I could have settled here. Took me about 3 months of full time job searching (started about 2 months before the EAD arrived).

    Hello folks,

early topic for the upcoming January 2018 ROC filers. My window opens on January 4th and I will begin putting my petition together tonight.
Can't believe it has been two years. Back to USCIS purgatory. And looks like we'll be in for the long haul again...

Hope this topic serves as a useful reference for the Jan 2018 cohort.
