I agree, there is not really a question there. When my wife filed her I751, we were in a similar boat, we did not open a joint bank account, instead, my wife opened her own account and we put each other as co-owners of the two separate accounts. We also did wills and living wills for each other beyond the other joint items like life insurance, and 401k beneficiary documents. Are you saying you have absolutely no comingled finances/benefits?

It all really depends on your priorities. If this person is the one, foster that relationship, and I realize that an LDR is difficult particularly with the specter of navigating immigration concerns, it can be very rewarding in the end. I am not suggesting you take one path or the other as I certainly do not know the whole story from a few sentences on a VJ post, you need to look at your specifics and decide the path yourself. Good Luck!

Do I need multiple I-134 for sponsors?
Dashinka replied to BootLoxes's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Generally current income is key, and as long as your tax history is good you should be fine. Good Luck! -
Do I need multiple I-134 for sponsors?
Dashinka replied to BootLoxes's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
If you meet the standard for the I1864P for sponsoring an I129F I would not bother with getting another one. If you are close to the income threshold, then have your parents fill out a separate I134 with the required evidence, and your fiancé can take it to the interview in case it is asked for. Good Luck! -

It seems KK is also quite petulant when she doesn't get what she wants politically. Even Joe Biden can’t stomach Harris’ fit of pique in hurricane spat with DeSantis No, the truth is much more incriminating. It’s not that Biden wants to blow up Harris’ campaign, it’s that he can’t possibly abide her self-centered tantrum. Despite her attempted rebrand as an amiable consensus-builder, Harris has none of those attributes. For her, everything — including 170-mile-per-hour winds and deadly floods ripping through the southeast — is about her, and how she can use it to her political advantage. That’s why she’s so angry that DeSantis has spent no energy feeding her ego, and has even gone so far as to manufacture a feud about it. https://nypost.com/2024/10/10/opinion/even-joe-biden-cant-stomach-harris-pique-in-hurricane-spat/

Seems Ms. Strassel is thinking along the same lines. It appears the Democrats are trying to pivot now and try to save the Senate, not sure that is going to work either. Empress Kamala’s New Clothes This week’s political headlines were eerily similar in feel to those of early July, following that momentous Joe Biden-Donald Trump debate. It’s the feel of a Democratic Party realizing (again) that the looms really were without thread, that their nominee—exposed to the nation—is looking a bit bare. “Democrats start to hit the panic button.” “Kamala Harris Is Making the Same Mistakes She Made in 2019.” “Democrats grow anxious.” Ms. Harris “struggling to break through with working class” and “struggles to differentiate herself from Biden” and “struggles to answer questions” and generally . . . struggles. “Kamala Harris Could Be in Trouble.” Pray tell, how? Weeks ago, Ms. Harris was the standard-bearer of “joy,” “freedom” and “opportunity,” the “juggernaut” who exudes “quiet prowess” and “humiliates” her opponent and delivers a “debate knockout” and runs a “brilliant campaign” and “dominates” among voters. The “Gen Z Meme Queen” whose party had woefully “underestimated” her “raw talent.” These superlatives came from the same partisan press corps that insisted Mr. Biden was fine—until it couldn’t. The same media that before the Biden debate warned against Ms. Harris’s enormous liabilities—until it got stuck with her. The same press corps that is now discovering that even unrelenting hagiography can’t make up for those Harris weaknesses. Her problem—like Mr. Biden’s—comes from finally being seen. She outperformed Mr. Trump in their debate a month ago, though she did it by saying nothing of consequence. She’s since embarked on a “media blitz,” and in doing so confirmed the wisdom of all those advisers who fought never to let that happen. Recent weeks have shown a candidate whose answer to every question is canned, memorized, substance-free. Twice this week alone she flubbed softballs designed to let her discreetly break with the unpopular current president. “The View”: “Would you have done something differently than President Biden?” Ms. Harris: “There is not a thing that comes to mind.” https://www.wsj.com/opinion/empress-kamalas-new-clothes-2024-presidential-election-issues-402058dd?st=v4ECKG

So doubling down to defend this extreme leftist professor who appears to be quite misogynistic in his leftist views. I get it, KK all the way, but should people be shot for fulfilling their constitutional right if they do not follow the extreme left/Democrat dictates? As to your apples to watermelons comparison, one can see through political rhetoric vs an extremist dictatorial view, but enjoy your broken windows.

B2 visa to visit friends from a game I play regularly with
Dashinka replied to arcanemoon's topic in Tourist Visas
All you can do is try. -
Just to be clear, this is what I found on the Travel.State.Gov site. You will be fine traveling with the valid visa in an old passport and also a new passport. Good Luck! My old passport has already expired. My visa to travel to the United States is still valid but in my expired passport. Do I need to apply for a new visa with my new passport? No. If your visa is still valid you can travel to the United States with your two passports, as long as the visa is valid, not damaged, and is the appropriate type of visa required for your principal purpose of travel. (Example: tourist visa, when your principal purpose of travel is tourism). Both passports (the valid and the expired one with the visa) should be from the same country and type (Example: both Uruguayan regular passports, both official passports, etc.). When you arrive at the U.S. port-of-entry (POE, generally an airport or land border) the Customs and Border Protection Immigration Officer will check your visa in the old passport and if s/he decides to admit you into the United States they will stamp your new passport with an admission stamp along with the annotation "VIOPP" (visa in other passport). Do not try to remove the visa from your old passport and stick it into the new valid passport. If you do so, your visa will no longer be valid. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/frequently-asked-questions.html

The US punches a hole in the bio page, then sends it back to the citizen I believe so as to allow any valid visas to still be used. In the case of the OP, it really depends on if Sweden does something similar. If Sweden does not return the old passport, then the OP will need to work something else out after their US entry.

Glad to hear you are safe and Naples was not hit to hard. I heard the eye came in just South of Sarasota (Siesta Key area). I am not sure if my brother and SIL plan to head back down from Atl. as I haven't talked to him yet, but I assume the power situation there is a bit shaky. Their house is right off 41 just South of Venice, so not right on the coast, but not too far away. Last time the storm hit Ft. Myers, they only lost their lanai screen and one tree, hope it is not too bad for them this time as well, but they were on the higher surge side this time.

Sounds like the aunt would be the joint sponsor for I assume her brother. That is perfectly legal, so both your friend and the aunt will need to fill out I864s for the father/brother. This is fairly common, the aunt could also file an I130 for her brother, but that will take 20-25 years, however your friend's I130 will be much faster, and there is no law saying that the intending immigrant has to live with the primary sponsor of the I130.

DCF in Auckland
Dashinka replied to Epmusky's topic in Direct Consular Filing (DCF) General Discussion
I assume when you say partner you mean legally married. I haven’t heard many stories of DCF from Auckland, but here is a thread that may be helpful as to the generic process steps to attempt DCF with exceptional circumstances. I also posted the contact information for the U.S. consulates in NZ. I would start with the email address for the Auckland consulate. You as the USC requesting the consulate take on the I130 can use this email. Also, I assume you have not already filed an I130, and also that your child already has a U.S. Passport. Good Luck! https://nz.usembassy.gov/contact/#embassywellington -
Stepkids USC
Dashinka replied to csh2020's topic in Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America
Spousal visas or other Immediate Relative visas do not allow for derivatives. As @JeanneAdil stated, each step-child will need a separate petition assuming the step relationship was created prior to the child's 18th birthday.
