biaobiao reacted to Ksenia_O in Citizenship through Military Service
Hello everyone.
My son just got his citizenship (applied based on Military service) and I wanted to share his experience.
His timeline:
1. June 2014 - entered the US as a K-2 (was 19 years old )
2. Sept. 2015 - got his conditional GC
3. Sept. 2018 - got his 10-years GC
4. April 2020 - went to bootcamp (NAVY)
5. June 2020 - eligible to apply for N-400.
Now, knowing, he would be "balancing" between so many different locations (bootcamp in Chicago, then A-school in Pensacola , then C-school in California) he decided to wait with his N-400 submission and applied once he was at his permanent base/station.
It took NAVY almost 30 days to provide him with the certified N-426. But long story short - he submitted his on-line N-400 in March, 2021.
There was a question in the application if he had an upcoming deployment. But since his deployment WAS NOT within the next 3 months, the answer was "No".
Once he reached that "3 months until deployment" window (the end of May or so), he contacted the USCIS Military help line by email, WITH the statement of upcoming deployment attached.
He also sent a message via account, but there was no answer ever since... No surprise though
In a week or so he received an email from the USCIS Military help line that they sent a request to expedite his N-400 due to his deployment.
A week after the status of his N-400 changed to "Interview scheduled".
He had his Interview last Friday, July 16. And they did the Ceremony right after that.
It took him about 3 months to get his Citizenship.
It was Seattle USCIS Office.

P.S. From son's observation it seems like a lot of non-US cit. Service members are not aware of the process and/OR what can be done to expedite. And sadly - not always a qualified help possible at your Unit as well.
So I've thought I'd share his experience so it may be helpful to someone
Good luck to everyone who is still in this incredible journey!

It's funny because I have another 4 years on my green card but now that I submitted my application I want instant results 😂. Forget the fact that there is truly no rush because it's not like it'd be complete in time for elections.

biaobiao reacted to Steeleballz in Corona Aid
Historically these types of aid bills have given funds as tax rebates, so LPR's would qualify. They could conceivably also tie it to social security data if they want to send out checks, which would also probably make LPR's eligible. That said, I don't think the exact details of the plan have been released yet, so it's hard to say for sure.

Cute. They are insisting you are married. Lol
OP, k1 is faster than CR visa. The faster the visa the costly it is in the long run
But again, k1 fiance visa is faster

biaobiao got a reaction from RobertandNene in Why is Philippines auto expedited
I guess it is just innate in us to be LUCKY and proactive at the same time. And yes you have to be proactive. If you think you qualify for an expedite request for it. You cant just sit and wait for things to happen for you. Complain and whine why some people are being expedited.
Its how you present your case. Countries with high fraudulent case most likely will have slim chance of expedite.
I do not wish you would experience it. But just in case you will, you would know how it feels. thinking you might not see your spouse again.
For those who really deserve the expedites, im so happy for us.
And for those who were just in the right path when luck was showered, congrats.

biaobiao got a reaction from Cyberfx1024 in Mamasapano Massacre & ISIS in the Philippines
up until now... they cant get their stories straight.
sucks that these 44 men died because of unorganized operation.
the senator who questioned the officers were right. how these officials be so stupid that they have their operation about 4:30am when these MILF/BIFF would wake up around that time to prepare for their morning prayer (and yes... these people still prays 5 times a day as per Islamic practices)
and now these rebels are threatening that if the BBL Bansangmoro Basic LAw ( agreement between the BIFF and the government) will not pass through.. then it might end up again in war....

biaobiao got a reaction from Marco&Bettina in Why is Philippines auto expedited
I dont think it is auto-expedited. Some people are just PRO-ACTIVE. They would request for expedite because they think they qualify for one. Some people got approved, some dont.
US has a base almost everywhere (JAPAN, MIDDLE EAST countries) it has nothing to do with bases.
US and PI might have ties from long ago. It was once a colony of US but was just given its freedom.
So its a case to case basis. Dont take it on filipinos. We did not want the back to back to back typhoons and natural calamities. For sure, a lot of us (affected filipinos of typhoons) would trade the typhoon and the expedites and would just want to wait and be safe.

biaobiao got a reaction from Asia in Philippine travel 10 year Green Card but expird PI Passport
As per philippine consulates or embassy in the us you need to apply for passport personally.
You need a valid passport to travel anywhere. You cant enter a country using an expired passport. Even if you have a greencard. That would not be of any help if your passport is expired.
So better renew it now
-
biaobiao got a reaction from NikLR in Can I enter the United States with a Philippine Passport expiring in less than 6 months as a Permanent Resident w/ Green Card?
if you can enter PI.. you will be lucky... then just renew your passport here.. expedite will just be 15 days if regional offices.. or better yet...you can just have an extension stamp on your passport.
i have read somewhere that they can stamp 1 year extension on you passport...
enjoy SINULOG.. PIT SENOR

biaobiao reacted to laurak29 in NOA2 to NVC: Have you been waiting more than a month?
Hello! Other than those steps, my fiancé also wrote to his congressman but that was only a week ago and we didn't hear anything off them so I doubt theyve intervened yet. Call uscis/NVC every other day alternating.

Fall in love is easy but stay in love with the same person over years need a lot work and commitment to make it happens. We dated 5 years before my fiance filed I-129F for me. LDR is not for faint-hearted.
