CR-1 Visa Denied in Interview - 221g White Slip

Hello all,

 

My sister in India had a CR1 interview today at the U.S. consulate in Mumbai, India. They gave her 221g white slip and said that your file is incomplete. My sister asked the Consular Officer what documents are missing. But, the interview officer told her that they cannot comment on that and handed her the 221g white slip. The slip even doesn't say which document to submit. My sister is so stressed right now. She checked the ceac site and status says "Refused". 

 

My question is:

 

1. Does Consulate email her regarding what documents she needs to submit?

2. Does the color of the 221g slip mean anything? Like white, yellow, or blue??

The consulate could be completing a background check.  I would just wait a day or 2.  It could change to administrative processing.  No need to panic.

So do you mean that they don't need any documents and just need to do a background check? Also, they didn't take my passport which worries my sister more. How long it takes to complete the background check and when I can follow up through call or email?

I am speculating.  If they needed more documents from her, the CO would have annotated that on the 221g.  Did they keep her passport?

U say "my passport"  but say this is for sister

so, i'm confused 

 

if this is your case,  have u completed and paid the 3 + years of tax returns?

They didn't keep her passport and that worries her more. They just said that her file is incomplete. And handed the 221g slip that I have attached below

Sorry my bad, it's for my sister. I am already in the U.S. and done with this process. I just shared the 221g slip that she send me this morning. Yes, they paid tax returns and they have a joint sponsor.

OK.  Thanks for posting that.  As the letter explains, the case is in administrative Processing (internal Consulate Process).  There is no need for panic or worry.  Once the AP is finished, they will continue the process.  Patience is still the key.

I think everything is fine from her standpoint at this point.  Just have to wait for the consulate to finish their part.

My guess is that means she's not getting an immigrant visa anytime soon, and that she is in administrative processing.  This can take days to years.  All she can do is wait.

They will likely advise her to get a new medical before they request the passport.  If the delay is going be more than 5 months.

When to  follow up or email the consulate regarding the  case?? Do my sister need to contact the US senator and involve in this case?? Or hire an immigration attorney?? I know she can only wait but what If things go worse??  Have you seen any case like this and how long  the wait can be?? If they said in interview that the file is incomplete,  they should have ask documents.

Waiting years?? Have you seen any case like this one  someone waited for years??
