Hello Everyone, I suspect all those on Visajourney for marriage-based visas can relate to the recent trend "Passport Bros". Just search #passportbros on TikTok. To be fair, many US citizen women here on Visajourney are also sponsoring marriage-based visas for foreign spouses.

I'm curious if anyone knows where in Visajourney or in the USCIS database to find the Male/Female ratio of foreign fiancées or foreign spouses for K1 or CR1/IR1? Can include same-sex marriages? My observational guess is that there are more Female foreign fiancées or foreign spouses being sponsored than Male? But I'm curious as to the actual ratios. Thanks in advance for any responses.

This is a fascinating question.

Have you played with the various "search" functions on VJ to see what they yield?

Not sure at all how to begin searching USCIS.

Maybe the Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs has some resource.

There's someone here whom I can ask.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Visajourney searches for posts, and I'm not sure if you can search by Timeline parameters or if the gender is a searchable parameter?

I'm pretty sure that the USCIS databases have the gender info since the I-129F asks for the beneficiary's gender and the I-130 asks for the beneficiary's sex. But access to the USCIS databases or what gender info USCIS releases doesn't seem to be readily available from my searches? Maybe someone else can find more?

The only K1 data I found was from RapidVisa

https://rapidvisa.com/k1-visa-report/

Again, these data are based in RapidVisa applicantions and may not represent all the USCIS data, and the dates of the data seem to be pre-2018. But some interesting RapidVisa data results are:

* 80% of sponsors are male. So the Male-to-Female ratio of US citizen sponsors is about 4:1.

* Median age of sponsor is 42.

* 60% of sponsors are Caucasian, 15% African-American, 14% Hispanic/Latino.

* Average age of the beneficiary is late-20s.

* Same-sex couples make up 6% of the K1s.

* Median K1 sponsor income is about 45K, with the median US income 60K. 13% of K1 sponsors income is over 100K.

* About 20% of the K1 entrants are from the Philippines followed by Vietnam, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and UK.

* K1 account for about 6% of new immigrants with IR1/CR1 make up the majority.

From these data, I can somewhat understand where the "Passport Bros" trend comes from. However, I'm not here posting for the purpose of opinions but for the data. And if others can find better data, please share. Thanks

I know. I was goofing. It would be interesting to see. I would guess it is very heavily weighted to males sponsoring females.  I am sure north of 80% . Also know I guess a small percentage of same sex sponsoring

Rapid Visa is focused on PI so I would assume mostly K1's and Male Petitioners.

I agree with the comment above that the Country concerned makes a difference, PI RUB on one side, North Africa on the other, and then many countries where if there is a lean I have not noticed it.

So my gut tells me more male petitioners. And it makes sense as well due to US Social trends, just more guys out there looking overseas.

My ultra-reliable source says this:

-----

State, of course, has that data -- it's on the DS-160 and the DS-260.  But, it's not data that's compiled or calculated for any purpose.  There's nothing in the process or decision making in which gender makes a difference.  So, it's not published.

Based on the numbers of K-1s processed in the Philippines -- the largest K-1-issuing Post in the world -- where the vast majority are female beneficiaries, I would hazard a guess that the female:male ratio is at least 3:1, maybe approaching 4:1. But that's just a guess.

RapidVisa isn't a very good indicator. Why? Because it's Philippines focus the majority of their applications is older men petitioning women thus the 80% filing rate for them.

Right.   The demographic of RV users is certainly different from VJ users.

Yes. It seems @Nature Boy 2.0 and @TBoneTX estimates are similar to RapidVisa data.

Would be nice to have more official source or other sources to corroborate the data as @dwheels76 and @Jorgedig indicated that RapidVisa may not be as reliable?

I find this data a little interesting that the median K1 sponsor income is below the US median especially those seeking RapidVisa service.

The RapidVisa Philippines number is pretty consistent with those of the US State Department

This makes some sense.

But shouldn't the US State Department immigration data (including gender data) be public domain anyways so as to be publicly available if asked because of the freedom of the press?
