Hi! I just became a citizen on Monday and I need to travel home to Wales on the 18th if August. It’s not enough time for me to get a US Passport, even expedited. I’m flying from Newark, NJ to Dublin, Ireland then into Bristol, England. Returning the same route in August 24th.

I can fly using my British passport but how do I get back in? I plan on taking my Naturalization Certificate. What else can I do?

Wing it if you must go.

Travel by land to Canada or Mexico, entering on your UK passport. Fly to UK.  Fly to Canada or Mexico on your UK passport.  Enter USA by land using your naturalization certificate.  A photocopy of the naturalization certificate will do.

You have plenty of time to get a passport, if you act quickly and if you are willing to possibly travel to a passport agency.  See below url.  You need to let them know if you need to travel due to either 1) life/death emergency or 2) "Urgent Travel" needs (within 14 days).  In either case, you can get same day passport as soon as you can secure an appointment in a passport agency.  Good luck.

I was in the same position 5 months ago. My appt was the day before my flight and i had a 5 hr drive each way to the passport office. Just make sure you have the required documents , credit/debit card , correct cash ( don't forget the expedite fee) or check .. passport photos .. my passport was ready for pick up 3 hrs after my appt. Agents at Hot Springs AR were great, friendly, efficient and competent
