Greetings to all

We are trying to purchase tickets to fly to the Philippines in April. The tickets are very expensive right now. Has anyone ever heard of "Skyscanner" and if so, is it a legitimate site? Any ideas of where to look for tickets. I usually use Cheapoair but they are very expensive right now.

Thank you

Skyscanner is a legitimate site. I personally use Google Flights ( https://www.google.com/flights ) because it's completely free and I can set up email alerts to track flight prices. It also lets me look at price graphs so I get a better idea of what prices look like over time.

However, I will use the info I get from Google Flights then go directly to the airline's website to actually purchase the tickets. That way, if my flight gets cancelled or rescheduled, I will deal directly with the airline and eliminate any third party complications. I've heard people have more issues getting refunds if they book flights through third party websites.

You can also use momondo.com for search for flight prices as well, I use the site Justfly.com to watch how full the planes are getting for the flights I am thinking about purchasing.

Keep in mind Christmas, New Years and Easter are the most expensive flights to the Philippines, you will see prices drop off much more on other months. If you can fly during the week to and from the Philippines you can save some money.

the issue with 3rd party sites like skyscanner is that in case anything happens (cancelled/delayed flight) you are way worse off than if you had bought directly from the airline, because you need to take any issues up with the 3rd party site, and they have awful or non-existent customer service. It's usually better and not any more expensive to buy directly from the airline website.

I agree with Kirillazebnik, I normally watch the third party sites on pricing and then when I am ready to buy I always purchase directly from the airline it's much easier to make changes, get refunds, etc. Third party sites you can run into some issues when you want to change something or request a refund.

I have used Skyscanner. Especially for Cebu Pacific for the boss to fly from Dipolog to Cebu, Manila, etc. It is legit. But that was before covid. Like someone said upthread getting cancellations and changes taken care of with a third party provider may be difficult. We went through an ordeal with a third party seller in April 2020. We got our refund. Many others were still waiting 4-5 months later. Good luck)
