I am US citizen. I am married to Indian citizen earlier this year. While looking at processing time for I130 approval to visa issue date for IR1 category, is it worth applying for K1 visa category ? My I130 is still waiting for approval and I filed on may 12,2021. Is K1 process faster then IR1? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You do not qualify for a K-1.  Your only option is a CR-1 visa.   You have a long wait. Patience is the key.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

K3s are obsolete and extremely rare.....They are almost always closed administratively.

Okay. Thank you Lucky Cat for quick response. I think “patience is the key” as you said. Long wait time are hard but unfortunately I guess I don’t have any other options.

Visits are legal during the process, provided your spouse has a valid B2.  Good luck.

She doesn’t have B2 visa. What are the chances she can get one if you have I130 pending? Are there any chance at all to get B2?

Is the consulate even interviewing for b2s?

YMMV

Of course, there is always a chance she can get B-2 visa. No law stops you from getting a B-2 visa even if you have l-130 petition pending. But to get the visitor's  visa will be based soley on her individual circumstance. Ultimately, she will have to prove to the CO that she does not have an immigrat intent with B-2 visa. So she can try to apply for a B-2 to find out, assuming the embassy is opened at all for B-2 business.

Didn't Biden halt travels from India? That being the case, don't even bother with B-2 application. Additionally, per current real time data, there's backlog of B-2 interviews in India. How'd I know? A Indian friend of mine got married here in Houston in March of this year. In November of 2020, he had filled B-2 applications for his parents who are currently in India. Next available interview date was December 2021. He just booked it but it was a lost cause as they missed his wedding. But atleast they'll visit US if they get B-2 later and the border is open. That being said, don't waste your money on B-2 application. Pretty sure available spot will be long after her CR-1 interview. That would be a waste of $$$.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

He banned travels from India by most aliens that don’t have a 15 night stop over in a third country.  So stay in Mexico for 15 nights.

Very doubtful, especially from India.  They will assume she will try to jump the queue.
