Apparently Trump will partly(?) lift the 14 day travel bans

The lifting would take effect Jan 26 for the EU/Brazil - the day the new entry tests are required.

 

No confirmation yet, and I don't have high hopes for China & Iran - but maybe we'll get lucky. What does this mean for consular processing? One can only speculate.

Not sure it's related to consular processing (aka DCF as we call it here on VJ.) The decision to hault I-130's being accepted at USCIS offices abroad (and the closing of many of those offices altogether) happened way before Covid. You can always try for the exceptional circumstances route if you qualify.

I'm pretty sure if he would try to reverse them that he would get a lot of grief for that. Remember he called trump xenophobic for doing it in the first place. Plus, it makes no sense to reinstate them if you have testing requirements in place. This is wonderful news!

Hm? I see mention of the incoming admin won't lift the bans, but nothing indicating they will reverse/re-implement.

The statement provided by the press secretary was "this is not the time to be lifting restrictions on international travel,” and that the Biden administration “does not intend to lift these restrictions on 1/26." - which would be interpreted as "we will not remove the travel bans if they are not gone yet". It feels like more political speak affirming their stance rather indicating an action they will take.

 

With this, I don't see the jump to the conclusion "of he'll reverse the ban lifting" in which the article is making. While it's certainly true he could do it, the article does not provide concrete evidence either way..
