This might be a stupid question since I know everything is electronic now, but the envelope we receive our passport in from Canada post, is it okay to open that and take our passport out? Or do we leave it in that and take it to the border?

Yep totally fine to open it. There is no "do not open" envelope anymore since it's all electronic. Inside the package will be your passport, another welcome to the US letter (or at least we got another one), and any originals they need to return to you.

Can you please tell me which documents you uploaded on CEAC before your interview?

We upload our updated 864 EZ, 2020 W2s, work permit and work visa because when we originally submitted to NVC my spouse was on student permit and student visa.

My husband is asking, was he supposed to get an immigrant data summary or an USCIS immigrant fee handout? He got instructions on how to pay the $220 fee, but it didn't gave his a# or Case ID in the top right corner. I keep telling him that he doesn't need it because he doesn't get a packet but he wants someone else's experience?

We weren’t in the April batch, but we had a similar situation in January.

I highly recommend emailing the consulate. My husband’s visa was held up due to an error that was made at the consulate. He was approved at the time of the interview as well,  but status remained “refused.”  It wasn’t until his email was addressed that his file was corrected. His visa was issued immediately afterwards.

Good luck!

My husband and I went through this as well. Can’t believe they still make such ridiculous “human errors” in this process.

Anyone in the April batch of interviews still waiting on their passports?I had my interview on the 9th and was approved by the officer and my passport was taken and said i would get it back in 2-3 weeks. Two weeks later my status is still Refused. I heard refused just means administrative processing if they don't ask for any additional documents but now I'm getting worried. Any insight would help.

You can contact them and ask. My husband and I didn’t know what was happening with his case either and it was at refused for about 2 months. Of course this was all caused due to mistake they made which we had to email/fight before my husband’s visa was issued. It is likely that your case is in admin processing, additional checks, etc. Stay hopeful and email them to get an update!

Hello,

Its been 56 days since we paid Green Card Fees and no green card. Fees paid on 2/26/21 and US entry was on 3/12/21. Status says fees received. I called and voice message said if you haven't received GC in 30 days, you can fill out E form for Inquiry. Which form should I select to file Inquiry. I tried I 485 and I 751, i get error that recipient wasn't found for those form. We did receive SSN within 7 day of entry. And live in Seaatld, WA area. Any advise?

To check USCIS case status for green card production, use an IOE receipt number.

Here's the case status site: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

The form type is Form OS155A

Mine expires June 6th but I have an appointment for May 11th to get a new one. Just to be on the safe side... I took a couple weeks for the first one to arrive. It wouldn’t hurt to get yours renewed since you don’t have a interview yet and it expires in less than a month

Thank you . That’s what I will do as well

No, all he should have received was a welcome letter and instructions, which are generic.

My A# was in my interview letter all the way at the bottom of the interview details section, but it'll also be on his visa. You will need the A# to pay the $220 fee. Once you pay the fee you'll be given the case number to track his green card.

How is the POE through Toronto? What type of questions do they ask you in secondary?

I was wondering the same thing. I'll be flying through Pearson on Wednesday so I can let you know after!
