So I have my interview scheduled soon. My question is that on my application I never mentioned I worked ( I didn’t have a EAD before)and just wondering when I’m asked about it what I should say. My excuse is that the person I worked for was paying rent for my apartment(which was really happening) and I was helping him out at his store. I’m asking this because there is some evidence on the internet that shows that I was working

2018: I was working at a store and some news reporter came in to interview about the products. That interview pops up on google and identifies me as manager of the store. during this time until I got my EAD which was 2 months ago, August 2020, my rent was being paid by my boss. I’m wondering whether they see that interview and question me about it what my stance should be?

Never lie on immigration paperwork.  Never lie to an immigration officer.  Either one can result in severe penalties.

So after telling the truth... will this person have a chance to receive his/her green card? Or will he/she have to hire an attorney to help with whats next?

It is possible to answer that. Let me tell you in a simple way how mods/old users answer this type of question:

This user might have a chance/might have problems because .... ”There have been cases in this forum in which the green card was granted, even though they worked illegally in the past”. “Some users have been notified with an order of removal after telling the officer about the ilegal work”.  Etc.

No, I cannot tell you the lotto numbers for this week in your country. Simple.

Users have got into big trouble when lying to the Interviewing Officer.

PS a review of the VJ ToS may be in order.

So if you knew the answer, why ask the question?
