Has anyone who was DQ'd in January had their interview letter yet? We were DQ'd at the very beginning of the month, but we haven't yet recieved ours. People who were DQ'd in December seemed to get their IL within 14-calendar days or so? Thanks

Hard to say what the pattern is at the moment. They sent recent interview letters on 2 Aug, 1 Sep, 30 Sep, 31 Oct, 30 Nov, 9 Dec, 19 Dec, 12 Jan. So maybe they're reverting back to once a month, mid-month, or we might hear end of this month. I'm waiting for my letter too. Medical's booked for next Friday.

Hmm interesting, thanks! If the 12th Jan IL cohort got interview dates (it seems) of w/c 6th Feb, I hope we get more than 2-3 weeks notice for our interview, if our IL date is to be 31st Jan! Do you think you will move your medical or wait it out?

This is my spreadsheet btw, with names removed. The shortest IL to interview I've seen recently here and on FB is 21 days for that 12 Jan cohort. I'm going to keep my medical on that day as I'm going on holiday the following day and I am hoping my interview date will be for after I get back! I want to avoid the risk of not being here to have my medical with enough clearance.

Really handy, thanks. It looks as if the Embassy keeps a week between interview dates, perhaps to review upcoming cases? 25th Jan - 2nd Feb, 13th Jan - 24th Jan etc. Maybe ours will be sometime w/c 20th Feb? Hopefully we both hear soon!

Ok cool, will you let me know how your medical goes please? I know some people have been allowed to do their medical with just the DQ email and not an IL, but some haven't in the past, and I'm kind of worried about that.

I hope it's w/c 20th Feb and not earlier as I'm back from holiday on the 20th haha ahhh. Will do re: medical! when I rang to book she was totally fine with me not having the IL yet but it may be different at the clinic.

I hope so too, I think less than 3 weeks notice would be pretty short, especially given they ask for 10 days for the medical!

Yeah I was told the same when I booked too lol, but the Embassy website, the medical email, and a few posters in the past say you do need your IL first. Guess we'll find out, but we might be ok with medicals after the 31st Jan (if that is our IL date)!

When I booked my medical I didn’t have an interview letter and they told me as long as I had something showing my case number - like the DQ email then that would be fine. To be honest if  I’d I hadn’t of booked my medical in for when I did, it would have tight on the 10 days in between. My interview date was exactly 4 weeks notice.

Oh I know. I had to threaten the manager of my GP service with legal action if they didn't provide my medical records. Took them over 8 weeks.

Yes absolutely you can go ahead and book the medical as long as you can show a print out of an email with your case number on.

The GP summary was a pain for me, it was a 33 page document!. I called the medical office and they said they just need a basic summary showing current medications etc. I managed to print that off myself from my online portal with my NHS doctor. They only need a basic summary. You will need a list of vaccinations from the GP too. I was short of a few vaccines and the medical nurse gave them to me. I needed MMR, Hep B and a polio booster. My arm is sore today 😂.

wow

I assume we need the GP Summary Record? The full printout.

I got the vaccination record from the nurse when I get my MMR and Tetanus done a few weeks ago.

Once I get that I will book the medical.

I was Dq'd on the 10th Jan.

What passport photos do we need just the standard ones as I can't find the measurements for them?

No, you need the standard US size which is not the same as the UK size. See: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/photos/photo-composition-template.html

Hi all,

I've only just discovered this website tonight and I have to say my level of worry has gone up a bit reading this thread!

I was DQ'd yesterday at last, so now I'm just waiting for my interview date. Everything says you can't book your medical without this date, but lots of you have said you can? How do I go about that? How do I know when to book it for if I don't have my interview date yet?

I was also reading it can take months to get your interview date, but you guys seem to be getting it within about a month of DQ? My nerves have shot up reading this!

Could someone also please advise me on whether I will need my husband's and joint sponsor's documents like birth certificates, tax info etc (the originals) at the interview? Obviously, I don't have these considering I'm 5000 miles away and the thought of having my visa denied due to this is very stressful! Surely I just need my own civil docs?

Sorry for the essay but thanks for any help, this is all very nervey

Congratulations on being DQ’d, you are nearly there now. It’s an exhausting journey for sure.
Yes you can absolutely book your medical now you have been DQ’d. just print off a copy of your DQ email showing the case number and take that along to the medical with all the other paperwork and you will be fine. You may even get your interview date before the medical happens anyway, but it’s not essential. The staff at the medical office are very helpful so if you want to double check for your own peace of mind then give them a call.

It seems like the embassy send out the interview letters once possibly twice a month. I got mine 12 days after DQ and the interview date just 4 weeks later, which is 2 weeks time 😬. The london embassy are pretty up to date at the moment so you will probably be late feb / early March if I had to guess. The only downside to getting the medical done early is that it starts the 6 month clock for entering the US. That may not be a problem for you anyway. They would like 10 days between the medical and interview.

For the interview you will need all YOUR original documents and just copies of the sponsors paperwork. You will need to show proof that your sponsor/ husband is a US person ie copy of their passport or naturalisation certificate. There is nothing new needed here that the NVC haven’t had. They just want to see if again. You will need to take copies of your sponsor / joint sponsors tax transcripts for the last year showing their annual income,  just incase you are asked for them. You can access the docs from the NVC portal where you uploaded your paperwork.
It’s a lot to take in, I am drowning in packs of paperwork too at the moment. It will be fine, don’t panic, - sorry about the long reply!!.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! We started this whole process in August 2021, so to be at this stage now is just beyond exciting.

I have found the place we have to go to is VisaMedicals in London - do I just phone them up to book?

I am so relieved about the documents, it was really worrying me. I was literally about to start googling the safest ways to mail birth certificates haha. I guess I better get printing! I'm off to my GP surgery tomorrow to get that summary of my records too, which I have to pay £30 for! My mind is absolutely racing now lol
