American Faces $750,000 Fine For Breaking Quarantine Rules In Canada

A Kentucky man faces a fine of as much as $750,000 — or six months in jail  — for allegedly violating a quarantine order in the Canadian Rockies.

He was really looking to be ticketed, you get very clear instructions, and details of the possible consequences, when crossing the border. Idiots going to be idiots... Nothing new.

How embarrassing. He was made well aware of the restrictions of his travel when he entered another country, he ignored those rules. He was ticketed for violating them, and rather than take that as a sign to not be stupid, continued to ignore them and traveled further into Banff National Park (Sulphur Mountain). 

 

It's really simple.. don't enter another country if one can't/won't follow their rules.. easy. This looks bad for Americans especially when Canada doesn't need to allow entry for the goodwill purpose of going to/from Alaska, it affects future travelers not just them. Hope he's barred entry for a good while, he can still travel to/from Alaska through sea/air. There really shouldn't be any complaints about this beyond the embarrassment to Americans that guy brought.

Slightly off topic, but this reminds me, when we got back from our vacation, we landed in JFK... No questions were asked. No declaration, no forms to fill out, no saying you need to quarantine, no asking where we were. It was really bizarre.

That is quite interesting especially considering it is JFK.  Was that your final stop, or just a connection?

 

As to the OP, I agree, when you go to another country and flaunt the rules, what else is expected.  The fine might be a bit excessive, but there should still be consequences.

that was our final stop. We drove home to VT because finding reliable flights was not easy.

From where did said flight originate?

 

JFK isn't all that locked down, despite what the MSM will try and have us believe.  The car checkpoints didn't last very long, I've been told.

Yeah, Canada doesn't play, the same way they don't mess around with illegal immigrants.  There are consequences for bad choices, and sometimes, they really hurt.  I wanted to travel to Canada this fall, but it looks unlikely to happen.

I was talking to my friend who is originally from Australia, and their lock down rules are draconian.  He and his brother live in the US, but their father is in NSW very close to the border with Victoria and SA (middle of nowhere), their mother died last year, and he and his brother would like to go visit their father, but it seems it will not happen anytime soon.

Car checkpoint? seen none of that.

 

Ok so I was at JFK 3 times:

 

1. parked in long term parking and spent the night at the TWA hotel(the night you checked in after me) to fly out the next day.

2. On my way from Orlando to board my Qatar flight to Tanzania, we stopped at JFK. This time, coming from within the US(FL) we did have to fill something out.

3. Landing there after a flight from Qatar(Dar Es Salaam -> Doha -> JFK). No questions asked.

 

Also, in none of the flights but 2 was our temp even taken.
