You can’t have more knowledge of what happens in Nigeria and Nigeria embassy more than Nigerians. They are making it known that k1 visas are issued up to when coronavirus hit. Spousal visas which was banned also get waiver. Please let’s not argue with people that knows what happens in their country. Likewise they can’t argue what happens in New Zealand period.

Very simple and short, sometimes I'm so surprised with how US embassy in Nigeria is described as very hard and tough when almost 98% of k1 and Spousal applicants successfully get approved.  Thank you for this write up

Visas are still been issued using the visa waiver program

There is a waiver available and the CO automatically considers the applicant. Not part of the “visa waiver program” and there is no additional fee for the waiver.

Getting a waiver (from the EO) and the Visa Waiver Program (aka ESTA) are two different things.  Words have meanings.  Only one is a program.

do some research on special immigrants too

A special immigrant would have filed an I-360.  No one in this thread has identified themselves as an I-360 petitioner.

That’s exactly what I said. The waiver that may be considered at the time of interview by the CO is not the same as Visa Waiver Program.

The waiver at the time of interview  is completely separate and is not the same as any other waiver “program”.

It’s the CO discretion to grant a waiver at the time of the interview because of the ban issues via the proclamation.

It is known  that several visas have already been granted because the CO issued a waiver - per their discretion - in the interview and thus approved several applicants - this was prior to COVID

Rather than argue about who is really affected by EO ban, Nigerians should really focus fixing the reasons that the ban was issued.

We're not the government, so focusing is hard right now because of everything going on.

We're grateful that after the ban majority of spouses who went for their interview got waived and approved, most of them are with their loved ones now.

And the rest of us haven't gone for our interviews because of the lockdown plus the Consulate isn't holding interviews yet.

So yes, there's Always a way, and in this case, all spouses including myself who is waiting for their interview will get approved as soon as we go forward to the embassy. And when we re-unite with our spouses we will sit together and look back at this time with hearts full of praise and Thanksgiving.

So you see the cause of the ban is the governments problem to solve not ours. You guys should stop adding sand to our garri, the process is hard enough.

Last time I was there it was still a federally elected government.  If you aren't voting then you aren't the government.  Aren't the President and Nigerian Senate and House still elected by Nigerians.

Facts are that Nigeria has dropped from the 62 (2006) to the 97 (2020) ranking group of countries out of 107*. Only 7 African Nations are lower.  It is the highest economy with the lowest ranking. It's passport now requires more visas because Nigeria refuses to accept repatriation of its citizens and doesn't participate in the international security arena.  Nigerians Citizens are the only people that effect change within Nigeria.

@Sebaslyn125 I've got passport books full of Nigerian visas.  In my old job I went to Nigeria often.  Whenever my group was asked to send someone I was pretty much the only one that would always volunteer.  In my new job, our insurer hasn't allowed us to travel since 2018.   I hope you get your visa soon.

Other consulates have been issuing immigrant visas to those that had interviewed prior to Covid suspension and those already received from the NVC.  For immigrant and K1 visas consider it closed.

There were 1567 immigrant visas issued worldwide last month, 697 in May , 1521 in April.  Lagos had none of those.

Worldwide 46,435 non-immigrant in June,  40,939 in May, 46,855 in April.  Lagos had a single K1 in April.

If i reply this the way it's meant to be replied, you might feel I'm taking it personal but honestly I'm not,  your analysis of the visas that were granted worldwide for the past three months is super funny, hopefully you'll figure out why I said so.  So tell me,  how many of those visas were also granted in most African countries without such ban on them within the period you talked about?
