I am an active duty service member trying to start my fiance's petition

Hello, I'll try to make this brief as I can: I am United States navy sailor seeking to marry my fiance who I've known and been daring for two years as of may this year. If anyone could help me with how to navigate the forms and fees that would be very helpful, if there are other service members on here who have gone through this before your advice and experience would be very much appreciated. I've only just graduated bootcamp since February this year and am currently expected to ship out July of this year. I'm trying to begin the process quickly so I won't be bogged down when I get under way. Thank you all to those who see this and reply

You you require handholding then you may need to hire some.  If you are able to do it yourself,  start with the site guides

YMMV

Here you can find the guides on VJ. You can find all the up to date forms and instructions on the USCIS website. They forms are not super hard to fill but read the instructions carefully.  https://www.visajourney.com/guides/

If you can't guarantee to have proper internet and communication available and somebody who you trust with your mail during the next month's then I wouldn't file before you're back.

You can easily do it yourself using the guides.

My fiancé actually did it all by himself and we only found out about visa journey other groups after we had sent our petition. We were approved in four months.

As someone mentioned, if you're not home, make sure you have someone trustworthy handling your mail (my fiancé was also deployed when he sent ours).

Just know, being in the military doesn't necessarily make anything go faster (as some may think), but at least you have a steady income.

Active duty here.

I'm not sure what you're looking for, in regards to your Active Duty status? It doesn't change anything in the slightest.

Anyway. If you want, you can message me and I'll answer any questions you might have.

Side Note: You said you just graduated boot. So you're in A School right now? If so, then I highly recommend you put this off until you get to your first Duty Station.

Anyway. Message me. I'll help you in any way that I can, brother.

Active duty as well. I went to the USCIS website, printed out the instructions and pretty much filed it out using that if I had any questions and checked off the requirements that were listed in the instructions as I gathered them. I googled examples for cover letters, intent to marry letters etc and built the package (tabs on the bottom of the pages, hole punched, no heavy staples etc) from the Lockbox tips on the site. I just submitted mine and deployed the week after and had my mail forwarded to family to keep an eye out for anything I get, I don’t know how Navy training goes but that might be a good idea while you’re still in student status. Or like was mentioned earlier wait until you are at your first base. Good luck.

The process is simplistic if you care to follow the guides here on VJ. Submitting now is better than waiting because if you are in the Navy chances are slim that your first duty station will not be land based. I was lucky when I graduated "A" school as they came into the classroom and asked if anyone wanted to go to the islands for their first duty and I am thinking Guam, Marshall islands which I thought were far out there. But I asked if it included Hawaii and the PO said yes and so I volunteered and had orders cut for Hawaii. Spent four years on the "beach". Back to the topic. :ot2:

If you run into any problems there is a USCIS military helpline.

USCIS has established a toll-free military help line exclusively for members of the military and their families. USCIS customer service specialists are available to answer calls Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. (CST), excluding federal holidays. After-hours callers receive an email address that they can use to contact USCIS for assistance.
