  1. I enlisted in August 2017 and it has been a real mess so far. I have been given so many ship dates that were all cancelled because my background investigation wasn't complete. I received a call from my recruiter about 10 days ago telling me that my background investigation was adjudicated and I was good to go this March 20th, then called me back literally a couple minutes later informing that I am not shipping and that there are about 20 other GC holders in the region who are also on hold. I understand that the country is being extra cautious with people joining the military, but my husband and I are getting aggravated with the poor communication. Here's my timeline: August 2017: Got sworn in November 7th 2017: 1st ship date November 13th: 2nd ship date given (no explanation) December 20th: 3rd ship date (reason: clearance not completed) March 20th: 4th ship date (clearance completed, reason: unknown) Here's is the link to the DoD policy change: https://www.defense.gov/News/Article/Article/1342430/dod-announces-policies-affecting-foreign-nationals-entering-military/ If you were also affected or know more about this, please let us know.
  2. As many of you are probably aware, LPR's have been delayed due to DoD's new policy. See VJ thread here. I'm about to hit my 5 yr mark as a LPR in February. However, I am also due to report to Navy basic training in December. I am wondering what's the fastest way to process my citizenship? Should I choose option A or D in form N400? If I choose option D, I am probably required to submit form N-426 (Request for Certification of Military or Naval Service). But as far as I know, this requires 1 year of military service. Does my time in DEP count as military service? Can I bring all documents to bootcamp to be safe? Option A - Have been a lawful resident of the US for at least 5 years Option D - Are applying on the basis of qualifying military service Here's my enlistment timeline: Enlisted: June 2017 Background investigation opened: November 2017 Background investigation completed: August 2018 Adjudication completed: October 2018
  3. Hi, We haven't actually started on our visa application yet so my question is, my husband is currently a Navy reservist and is being called back for active duty but he's planning to do that next year. However, I want us to begin with the submission of our I-130 already this year. If we file through normal processing right now, Is there a way for the Navy to help our case once he's back? I have read that deployed military may request for expedited processing but he's only about to go back so there really isn't any deployment order just yet. Hope anyone has advise? Thank you in advance!
  4. I am a US NAVY civilian engineer, I have family in Egypt (mother, sister, and brother) and I need to bring them here because of the current situation in Egypt. I am not sure if I would be treated like military or do I have a different avenue to follow. I am not even sure where to start If someone can help please.
  5. I'm filing the I-130, I-485, I-864, etc... and for the "Name of Employer" and Address, I'm not exactly sure what to put in. I'm in the Navy and on my W-2 it appears like this: DFAS-CL/JFLP 1240 EAST NINTH STREET CLEVELAND, OHIO 44199 Should I just use that address for all emloyer based questions or would they send an RFE because the name looks weird? Thanks for your help!
  6. Hello to everyone! my fiancée is coming over in October on a K1 visa, hopefully. He is thinking of enlisting in the Navy Reserves or possibly going active duty. However we've read that you can't do either until you get your AOS. So my question is can he request an expedite to enlist? It'll also help him financially as I'm being sent overseas not long after he comes over/we get married and I don't think he can come with and I'm not sure of what money I'll be able to send back.
