What does everyone include in the intent to marry letter? How long is too long (pages)?

Thanks :)

What is an intent to marry letter?  No such thing.  It is a statement of intent to marry.   Ours was three sentences .  Almost verbatim of the example in the site guides

YMMV

this is where some people talk about their 'love story'. I know there is a basic , to the point statement of intent to marry but some suggest writing a little more than that.

A careful read of the instructions will indicate no requirement for a "love" story.  The uscis nor consulate is not interested in a written essay of your relationship.

Personally,  I would stop listening to those "some".

YMMV

No such requirement exists. Just stick to the "we intend to marry within 90 days of entering on the K-1 visa" message.

Pages? No more than a few lines. Stick to what’s required, not what you think you want to send. There are examples on this site. All they require is a written statement from you both that you understand the concept of the visa - I.e. that you intend to marry within 90 days of the immigrant’s arrival. Save everything else for your personal scrapbook.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Pages?  Anything more than a concise paragraph is too long.  We submitted one letter that we both signed, stating our plan to marry one another within the 90 days.  We renewed the date on the letter before the interview.  It is literally a statement, not a love story novella.

No.  I promise that USCIS does not care about love stories.  They care that the petition meets the legal requirement of both parties being willing and lawfully able to conduct a marriage within 90 days of the alien fiancee's arrival into the US.  THAT'S IT.

You complete one and she completes one. This is all that is needed. No love story needed to pass through USCIS. People make this process so complicated. Oy Vey.

Pages is definitely too long. As others said, a few lines is all that's needed.

Don't rely on "some people" when preparing your application. Stick to the official forms and instructions. A love story is not a requirement. And if you write a several page letter it may be hard for the reviewing officer to find the actual statement of intent to marry in your long boring story, and they may send you an RFE. Stick to what's required.

T&f2020,

We've kind of beaten this horse to death, but my (now) Brazilian wife and I just completed the I-129F / visa interview / US entry, and I can say definitively that the 3 sentence example letter here on VJ is exactly what USCIS wants.  To underscore that point, when we entered the consulate waiting room for the visa interview, the consulate assistants had copies of the "intent-to-marry" letter available for anyone who had forgotten theirs.  It was almost identical to the example letter here on VJ -- two sentences and a signature line.
