Used Snapchat app as a form of communication...oops

Hello, sorry if I post this in the wrong forum. I very new here.

Snapchat became our main app for talking ever since we met and now that our relationship has flourished and decided to take it to the next level (ending the LDR with K1 visa), we spotted our biggest mistake when we read the requirements: conversation screenshots.

The thing with Snapchat is it delete the chat after 24 hours, as well as our call logs.

Any tips? 😔

We submitted photos and copies of plane tickets with boarding passes as proof of relationship / meeting in person. Also we included “Declaration on how we met” (which isn’t required but we thought it’d be easier for the officer) on a4 page, maybe you could explain the situation there?

Advice: chats are probably the weakest form of evidence. They want to see face to face time. Your passport stamps, plane tickets, photos of you together with family or others. The best evidence you can present is time together physically. Think of all the snaps he could have been sending other girls, right, this doesn’t show a relationship.

Yea I was just concerned about the conversation screenshots part of like one of the things they look for as a proof of relationship. I dont have to "think of all the snaps he could have been sending other girls" i dont know how that can be related to my post and besides you can literally do the same thing with other apps lmao.

That’s my point; you’ve proved it. Chat logs aren’t sufficient proof and totally ties in to your question. No where does USCIS require conversation screenshots as you’ve stated. Check out recommended evidence on page 7 https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/USCIS/Resources/Resources for Congress/Congressional Reports/I-129F Petition for Alien Fiance(e).pdf

We didn't provide any conversation chat logs at all. They are certainly not a requirement.

We had plenty of face to face time, had some facebook posts of things we'd done during these (often with family), as well as tickets, boarding passes, passport stamps etc. Chat logs aren't required and they aren't a great way of showing a genuine relationship (if you've ever watched Catfish, you'll know this already :) )

Where does it say that conversation screenshots are required?  Is that new?  We did our K-1 in 2018 and there was no such requirement.

Sorry, I meant to say like one of the things they look for

If you are getting your information about K-1 visa requirements from the YouTubes and FB, I suggest you not do that.  The best source of info is on USCIS.gov itself, in the instructions/checklist that accompanies the I-129F.  Second would be the guides here.

I included a screenshot of our 100-something snap streak for the interview (not sure if it actually helped at all) but that was our main platform for communicating as well

Honestly unless you are coming from a high fraud, very difficult embassy chats and all that they could careless about you. They trust your relationships more than other places. Unfortunately that's not the norm for everyone that's why everyone needs to know their embassy and what to ask for.

Not having chat logs communications going  back to the first met, hello for West Africa, Middle East will get you denied or AP. So if your embassy is cool don;t worry about Snapchat. Don't explain unless asked if they want to know what the gap in communications.
