Again, these were convicted criminals that ICE had requested a hold put on when they were arrested, but their request had been refused. If these morons in sanctuary cities would put a hold on these  scumbags when they are arrested , they would not have to arrest them at the courthouse, now would they ?

How could any sane person think sheltering criminals from deportation is a good idea, is beyond me.

I think you answered the unasked question right there.

if you deter the victim at the border and punish people of gullty of violent crime, there are no illegals to prey on nor are there illegals present here causing them to avoid police, the only reason to not come forward is to protect ones's illegal status, one border stop = 1 or more crimes not committed

No one is arguing against the US upholding  the security of it's border or enforcement of it's immigration policy.

About your strategy to cut crime against immigrants by blocking illegal crossings at the border, there are four problems:

1. The only reason to not come forward is not just the reporters status, it could be the status of a family member or someone living in the house. Dreamers might be hesitant now that Steven Miller is pushing hard to revoke their status.

2. It's not just the adults that crossed the border who are impacted, their children and their children who were born here are at risk.

3. Less than 50% of the "illegals" cross the southern border. 40% or more are overstays, others are victims of human trafficking.

4. The criminal who is not reported, apprehended or incarcerated may go free to commit another crime. That might be me, you, your wife or kids. Any federal policy that is making it harder to protect any population is making it hard to protect all  of us.  DHS makes their bureaucratic goals, the people suffer.

In your 4 cases.

1. If it is the affected or a family member then a crime was committed, it is the protection of the crime that limits legal recourse

2. in the case of crossing children,, the parents endangered them during their commission of their crime of illegal border crossing

3. Overstays and illegals all are actively committing crime, I do sympathize those sex trafficked

4. crime will happen amongst legal citizens, disallowing illegal border crosses and deporting those captured when caught will decrease crime by some percentage

But local police and public safety don't have that job, their job is to protect everyone already here. Though "illegal" they have constitutional rights and human rights.

So do you favor, for  cross checks  and reports against IRS for unpaid taxes, military discharge records, unpaid customs fines and such every time an assault or rape is filed or do is immigration law the only federal law you want to burden local police with?

Illegal border crossings are already "disallowed" , deportations are up and the immigration courts are slogged. Employers (including Trump golf courses ) hire with no criminal liability when caught.

Why make a federal mess a local law enforcement pain?

1. They have the right to be deported.  And if they want to live in the US, they can apply the right way.

2. English would make this easier to answer, but in general speak, crimes are crimes and should be dealt with accordingly.

3. Just like shooting someone with a gun is "disallowed".  Laws will always be broken by those with low morals.  Doesn't mean a city/state/country should stop prosecuting those who break the law.

Why are you so pro-illegal immigration?

Am I getting the hang of it? 🤔

Yep, you are. Just not in the way you hoped.

https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/567/387/

Quote

The Federal Government’s broad, undoubted power over immigration and alien status rests, in part, on its constitutional power to “establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization,” Art. I, §8, cl. 4, and on its inherent sovereign power to control and conduct foreign relations.

Quote

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), an agency within the Department of Homeland Security, is responsible for identifying, apprehending, and removing illegal aliens. It also operates the Law Enforcement Support Center, which provides immigration status information to federal, state, and local officials around the clock.

tl;dr-> ICE gets to break any local/state "laws" that encroach upon it being able to fulfill its duty to enforce immigrant laws, which fall exclusively to the federal government.

Sucks for them.

I think it is time these "sanctuaries" learned about the supremacy of Federal law vs state law.

Obama already demonstrated that to Arizona. :jest:  However, this is a Democrat backed policy (local sanctuary laws) so it must be good and have absolutely no unintended consequences.

Well, President Obama showed Arizona the supremacy of Federal Law over State Law, so you equations are not mathematically correct.

Not a current event.  But since you brought it up, just how terrible were those ICE raids last year?
