We received a case status update for my father's case earlier this morning (Case Was Sent to The Department of State), as well as the NVC case creation email, with a new case number, different than my mother's case number that was created 4 months ago.

What surprised me is that the AOS fee in my father's NVC case that was just created is shown as (Paid), but I can't find any other indication that both cases are linked.

Shall I proceed with paying my father's IV fee?

What about financial documents to be uploaded, will uploading it in one case be automatically reflected on the other case? Or I'll be uploading it twice?

Hi! We have the same situation, I just received the email from NVC, and the AOS fee has a status of “PAID”. I went ahead and pay for the IV processing fee. Just to be safe I guess we still have to upload the AOS and financial documents for each of our parents, as they are different cases. I’m just surprised too that there is only 1 AOS fee for both cases.

Thanks for confirming, I also confirmed that this means both cases are indeed linked, and I went ahead and completed the IV fee payment.

And yes, you're right, I went through I-864 instructions and it's clear that we will need 2 separate forms for each parent.

  • 2 weeks later...

Something happened yesterday and I'm still confused about the situation..

My attorney submitted my parents (individually) I130 documents on August 26th. Finally yesterday I received 8 texts with receipt numbers. (4 text for mom's case,4 for dad)

When I looked it up online, both if their cases were received on August 31st. AND fingerprint fee was received on Sep 17th. 🤯

Me and my attorney still haven't received any paper mails... so hopefully we receive the receipt notice by Sep30th (as mentioned online).

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?! this is so different than my immigration process..never had backed up notification issues like this.

Hi guys,

My mom case got approved and transferred to NVC for processing, we already paid for both fees on their website. I guess now she will start to collect the "Civil Documents" for her visa, but I did not see any document regarding to Health Check or Vaccination Report.

She's from Vietnam. Do you know the list of all documents she needs to prepare?

Thank you guys so much!

Here is my timeline:

I-130 filing date: 1/31/2020

Priority date: 2/1/2020

Father's I-130 Approval date: 5/4/2020

Mother's I-130 Approval date: Pending (as of 6/24/2020)

Father's NVC account creation date: 5/7/2020

Father's NVC AoS and civil documents submission date: 6/19/2020

@DavidnThao Thanks for sharing your timelines. I see that the time between your father's I-130 USCIS approval date and the NVC account creation is an amazing 3 days. Can I ask the following?

1) Your dad's NVC creation date of 5/7/20- is this also the same date when your dad's NVC case number was available?

2) Was the I-130 that you filed in January online and not paper based (assuming it was an IOE case number)?

Reason I'm asking is that we had filed also filed I-130's for my parents and in-laws last year; after their I-130 approval in August 2019, it took 24 and 27 days for their approved paper I-130's to be received by NVC from Texas Service Center and another whopping 15 - 24 days after NVC receipt to generating their NVC case numbers.

@goodsoohe5919 It is most probably your NOA1 paper notices were sent to your lawyer's address. If you don't get the NOA1 paper copy you can request USCIS to resend the NOA1 receipt notices to you again. In my opinion, the NOA1 receipt notices don't really mean anything other than tell you what the case numbers are- which you already have gotten from the G1445 text and emails. I normally throw away the NOA1 after the case is approved, keeping only the paper NOA2.

On a side note, online filing for I-130's has been around since October 2019. It took me an average of 30 to 45 minutes on average to file the I-130 from start to finish online- I have filed six different I-130's online (after Oct 2019) and it is really a no-brainer and does not need any lawyers.

Having the experience of filing five different paper I-130's before Oct 2019 as well, I can tell you online filing has many more benefits than paper filing such as:

- Instant USCIS case number creation

- No need to create cover letter, assemble paper package, save on printing and $8.40 flat rate priority mail postage

- Earlier priority date locked in (priority date of online filed I-130 is the same date as online filing; paper I-130's the priority date is when USCIS receives your paper forms)

- Faster NVC case creation date (online filed I-130's take no more than 7 days to transmit to NVC, paper filed takes 25 to 50 days before NVC case number is created)

She can relinquish her Permanent Residency at any time, she would file an I 407.

Hi

I have applied for I-130 for my parents in July and have not heard back after NOA. After the case gets approved and is sent to NVC, what civil documents are needed at the NVC stage? Are those filed online or is a paper packet needed to be sent? Please can someone share a link where i can see a list of documents so i can have them start gathering the documents? Thanks!
