Thanks for this! I'll see can my fiancé call.

Make sure your fiancé calls around that time since its the perfect time. She/ he can ask about the case and afterwards ask for tier 2 supervisor

I think with the Covid-19 backup, there is little we can do with the NVC number right now? I logged into CEAC and it didn't say anything, it only mentioned the ds-160.  I did update my e-mail address as per your guide but not sure what we can do next? Thanks and sorry if I missed something obvious in the Tips Guide.

Until the ship your case to your embassy and your CEAC status changes to "ready" you can only complete the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. More waiting. Good luck and stay engaged.

Also, there is a sub-forum for the Philippines here on VJ that you should be a part of the conversation. It's a good place to read what others are experiencing which will better prepare you for your interview.

am i correct to read that there are 2 mailing dates  from NVC to BKK  each month.  Oct 20 is the next one? and it takes several weeks to get to BKK?

Can you complete the DS160 before getting a case number from BKK embassy? or just get it complete and saved in the system waiting for the number?

I guess I better get going as any delay on my pat and I will really feel ignorant.

Am I correct to read that there are two mailing dates from NVC to BKK each month?  You are incorrect. Under NORMAL processing from NVC to your embassy we were on a every two-week cycle. So, some months there are two and some there are three shipping dates.

Oct 20 is the next one? Depends when your embassy requests their files. Is BKK open for the processing of K-1 visas?

and it takes several weeks to get to BKK? No, it doesn't take several weeks as it leaves NVC via DHL and the most I have seen is three to four days.

Can you complete the DS160 before getting a case number from BKK embassy? You don't get the case number from BKK. That is assigned by the NVC.

or just get it complete and saved in the system waiting for the number? Once you have your case number you can complete the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application.

I guess I better get going as any delay on my pat and I will really feel ignorant. Not to be unkind but you got all the answers to the questions wrong. I'll help you out with a link where it will help enlighten you as to what are the next steps beyond the NOA2. Right now, you are looking at items that are far into the future if you have not received your NOA2.

NOA1 February 28th

RFE October 20th... we filed with the help of an immigration lawyer so I'm interested to see what the RFE letter says...

Technically speaking, an RFE is a written request for more information and documentation that USCIS mails out if they believe that they don’t yet have enough evidence to approve or deny a given application. An RFE normally is a minor item and should not be looked at like it's a denial but an opportunity for you to complete your application. USCIS would not send out an RFE if they were going to deny your application. It's just a step that they must take and once they have your information and it meets their approval then you should be seeing your NOA2.

There are many varying degrees of RFE's. Some as simple as not "ticking" off a question. Others forgot the fiancé(e) letter and then others who met on a website and now need to prove that it wasn't a marriage arrangement website.

Once you get your RFE, read over very carefully as you only have one chance to reply accurately without causing undue harm. Once you know FROM THE RFE what it is set out to correct and to include "everything" they are asking for. Then reread the RFE to ensure you are compliant. Make copies of everything for your record and send back using their instructions which are contained within the RFE. If the RFE requires a signature, PLEASE don't forget this. Include the original RFE letter along with a cover letter explaining what you are including in your reply. Like a checklist format. Once received at USCIS your case will begin adjudication where the agent had left off. No one can tell you how long it will take so be patient.

Thank you for the detailed reply. hopefully it is something simple. It's obviously hard not to freak out over it, but we'll stay positive. At least it means our case is being looked at.

It costs more than that, but I prefer having a lawyer, particularly now that covid is affecting timelines. So we'll wait and see what the RFE is about.
