I think in certain lighting conditions, you can see my eyebrows better than others...right now they're looking kind of ok, but especially in bright sun it's hard to see, or from certain angles. The weirdest part is that from certain angles because of how the light hits, it may look like I only have 1 very pale eyebrow, or 1.5 eyebrows, lol. I've actually looked up close at the extremely platinum eyebrow hairs and they are basically iridescent (like a fiber optic cable) if you hold it up to the light, it's so crazy.

 

I've always been jealous of people with full eyebrows because you can at least have options with shapes/sizes, whereas I'm so limited! I might try the serum.

I totally know what you mean. Mine are red -- I am strawberry blonde -- and some of my brow lashes are a little lighter than others. If you want a quicker fix than the serum -- and I recommend you read reviews too! -- you can try something like what I use. I generally use Boy Brow by Glossier. It gives a very, very natural look that works with what you have, and doesn't look anywhere as harsh as a pencil. I only use a pencil when I am going for a nighttime look but hey, I have had no need for a nighttime look in a year!

Learned the hard way, when very young and fortunately rather harmlessly, never ever to attempt trimming my own eyebrows.  Barbers everywhere have agreed with me.

Along these lines. I have started using a Loofah with my suave body wash. It makes showering very quick. I feel a little less manly somehow. It use to be just a bar of Irish spring

@millefleur if you want a more permanent solution, look into microblading. A couple of my aunts did that and the results look great. Apparently with the right technician, the microblading can look like part of your natural hairs. But it's $$$, depends on your technician's skills, and is not for the squeamish who don't want sharp things anywhere near their face.

 

I watched a couple of microblading videos and thanked all my ancestors for my natural black brows.

My sister had microblading done and it looks excellent, very natural. She's blonde, and it helped give a little more definition. She pretended she hadn't, but her best friend let slip to me that that was a lie.  The friend had referred her to a salon in Venice that does one of the women who was in Pretty Little Liars. You're right that it's expensive, and you really need to shop around or get a personal recommendation. I have seen enough horror stories online to know I would never be brave enough.

Really the horror stories are that you find yourself at the hands of someone who doesn't know what she's doing but knows she can make a lot of money out of it. It's essentially a semi-permanent tattoo that is going to last around a year or two, and when done correctly shouldn't hurt too much if at all. The horror stories I have read have revolved less around pain, and more around allergic reaction and (more frequently) brows that look fake or too dark or too big.

 

But.... it can look amazing.

 

 

 

So you have to do a lot of homework to make sure it looks like one of the pics on the bottom. Yelp is actually probably useful for this, at least as a starting point.

Ohhhh right! That makes sense....yeah some of those look pretty terrible! Actually I have an art background and used to do needlepoint drawings for printmaking (super fine lines on metal), I would probably be really good at it, haha. I would assume the good places are using magnification and loupes, because that's what is what we always used in my art classes, seems like it would make sense here too.

 

I'd be concerned about allergic reaction though. I am allergic to heat and sweat (hot weather and water), it's called Cholinergic Urticaria, which causes me to break out in to hives and also why I hate hot climates. My skin is also just extremely sensitive so I always have to be careful about a lot of treatments that work wonders for others, but just cause me to look red and feel uncomfortable. I just recently bought this anti age toner (Andalou Naturals Age Defying Blossom + Leaf Toning Refresher) that I was looking forward to, but unfortunately it kind of burns my face.

Speaking of sensitive skin, any recommendations for sunscreen?

 

I've been so used to great Japanese and Korean sunscreens. Regular American brands just fall short. They're much stickier, often leave a white cast, irritate my eyes, smell awful, and are generally much more annoying to apply compared Asian sunscreens. 

 

All else fails, when I move to the States I'm stuffing one of my suitcases with my staple Bioré Watery Gel. It's SPF 50/PA++++, sinks into the skin without any stickiness, doesn't smell, doesn't sting my eyes, and is cheap. I can get it cheaper here compared to Amazon US prices.

Supergoop is the best in my opinion when it comes to facial sunblock. I use Dr Jart Cicapair because I have rosacea and it is great at bringing down redness. However it's only SPF30.

 

The one I would recommend is Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen, SPF40. I don't use it at the moment but it really has a great texture. Super light and NOT gloopy. https://supergoop.com/products/unseen-sunscreen

 

If you're looking for general body sunscreen, can't go wrong with them either.
