But AP cannot be expedited. Your case may have been expedited but AP is a necessary evil that everyone has to go through. And it cannot be sped up.

Keep us updated on when he gets his passport back. It will be helpful for others going through the same embassy to have an idea of timescales.

Yup hopefully he will get it by 2 weeks . I will be keep checking the status

You are saying it went from Issued to AP. That would be unusual. Issued means its been printed and attached to the passport. If its in AP then it means it has not been issued yet.

Don't want to be a downer but the AP time for males from Pakistan usually takes many months. Even though he may have been approved at the interview it does not necessarily mean he will get his passport back soon. While it might not be the case for you, you would be an exception not the rule.

An approval at the interview is not the same as having a visa issued. You can check out the forums here. Many males from Pakistan are approved at the interview and are then stuck in administrative processing for 6 months to a year+.

The reason is that the US does not accept the police certificates from Pakistan therefore the background checks take much longer. While it could be 2 weeks, based on the experiences here you can expect it to be longer. Hopefully for you it won't be but its good to have reasonable expectations

Guys,

I have completed the process in December through Islamabad embassy. So even if you are approved, embassy needs to do a processing on your case, completing the file, printing the visa, pasting visa on passport is also an administrative work to do.

In my case, i was approved right away; told to pick the passport in 2 weeks. CEAC status changed to AP for a day or two and third day issued. 4th day I had my passport with me.

@Zubaria12 Congratulations...... dont worry status will change to issued maximum in 3 days time

The visa is not approved until the CEACE status changes to "Issued"......You are in administrative processing.  Hopefully, it will not be extended AP.   It could take days, weeks, or months.  That's the truth.
