Healthcare options where I work have become progressively worse over the last few years as the employer attempts to cut costs. It has not translated into higher wages for anyone thus far. My guess is the employer will pocket those savings until/unless market competition forces them to do otherwise.

Mine is $400/mo with a 8k deductible.  For my salary at the moment, it is insane.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

I will say this about Biden: the Bidens (especially the Mrs) are genuinely nice people. I also don't think that his heart is in on the fight to be President though. He's doing it because people pushed him to. He's getting older, wants to help and doesn't know how else to do that. I don't find him to be a person that has his heart in the wrong place.. he genuinely cares about this country and he represents the old guard of the party. But none of that makes you qualified to be President. I haven't yet found a candidate to offer any appeal.

Everything I have ever heard or seen from them leads me to believe that this is true as well. You know he was pushed into this and I don't think he really wants to do it either. I think he was hoping for a more moderate Dem to appear but since no one did he had to assume the mantle because a far lefty won't win against Trump

Looking back I think Biden would of beaten Trump in 2016

I think Trump was the best candidate to beat Hillary

I think Biden time has past, and from what I have seen about Biden he seems as if he has been pushed into the race.

I am sure he would of rather sit back and enjoyed his retirement or whatever he was doing.  He doesn't seem to have the heart or drive to be President.

The reality is that if you move from a system that is basically limited in demand by cost to one of no cost demand will go through the roof, to cap it all several want it to be available to anybody here, and nobody else does that.

Rationed care, anyone?  Right now, I can usually get a same day appointment with my GP for routine care (medication follow-ups, etc.)........

Care is always rationed, it is rationed now in the US mainly through price. And availability, well they are usually related The Distribution of services is more based on where they can be afforded not where they are needed.

So logically you would see an explosion of new Hospitals etc being built in locations where it does not make sense to build one now.

Back before my neck surgery , when I didnt know what was going on and was having severe pain I went to the ER at the local Big Med center, that also does indigent care for the county. I was there for many hours in a sea of pitiful humanity crammed into an overflowing waiting room  with the unwashed masses.(poor people). It was awful, smelled like poverty and pee.

Next time I went to a private hospital, it was like the difference in a red roof inn and the Ritz.

How many years would it take to balance the demand with the supply of medical personnel & facilities if the US was to suddenly adopt Medicare for all?  and would it affect the quality of care?

It would be generational.

My County for example has about 20,000 people and no Doctors. Now there still would be regional centers with specialists etc so I would not expect to have an even distribution but maybe 5 to meet local demand for a GP? Difficult to tell because demand would be so different. Probably needs 2 under the current system.

I would see it affect waiting times for routine care, and probably see more people going to ER for non urgent care. Many people already show up in ER for non emergent reasons, but without the thought of cost, that would probably get worse. Can't really predict how long it would take, but probably several years to normalize. Regardless, the current system is also expected to get progressively worse if nothing is done, so doing nothing is not really an option.

The worst experience I ever had with waiting was when I got cut at work and they made me go to one of those workers comp places. I seriously thought my injury was going to be healed before I saw the doctor.

Boiler is right actually. We have always had a form of rationing in the US through price and availability. We also have problems with standards of care, particularly in poor or rural areas. Everyone knows for instance that our local rural hospital is a place you don't want to go... so they will choose to go to hospitals in other counties and even over the state line - this puts additional pressure on those facilities. Ever tried to get an appointment at somewhere that's not your GP? You'll encounter 'rationing' through availability. Only enough slots for appointments and not enough doctors means you may not be getting that appointment for weeks or months. Most times for a GP, you may not even be seeing the actual GP but an NP or PA.

We don't usually get care immediately upon demand either in an ER. When I was writhing in agony in the ER, it was still a ten hour wait before someone actually saw me. And there was another woman who was in very serious condition with a pregnancy that they left there even longer. Some estimates say that by 2030 we will be running on a shortage of 120,000 doctors and many of the best doctors in our country are nearing retirement age. Some are getting very little reimbursement from insurance, so they are early retiring.
