JFH thank you for the info. I read your reply. He's in the UK, I'm in the US. If we could do the spousal visa without my income yet and able to marry in the UK then bring him back with me that would be great. I don't know how all of this works.

Definitely try to read and research as much as you possibly can about these processes.  They are complex, time-consuming, and expensive.  Arming yourself with knowledge ahead of time can potentially reduce or eliminate the chance of denials or delays.

Jorgedig thank you. Most definitely!  We want to avoid that for sure!

Paul & Mary thank you.

Doesn't the spousal visa take twice as long as the K-1? like 12-14 months?

It can take that long.  But your spouse does get a green card right away rather than suffering 6 to 8 months after getting married to get AP/EAD.

It does, but your partner would be able to work straight away.  With the K-1, you would have to wait an additional 6-8 months for the work permit.  Doesn't sound ideal in your current situation.

It does take around that long, although I would just like to set expectations a bit...the K-1 is taking around 8-10 months. So "twice" would be a bit off....it's closer to a few months faster.

Does a spousal visa have the same amount of 221g as that of K-1? If K-1 has more, it’s definitely something which will affect the timeline.

Doesn't the spousal visa take twice as long as the K-1? like 12-14 months?

These are the meaningful differences:

Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation.

K-1
Slightly faster arrival in the US (currently about 5 months sooner)
    More expensive than CR-1
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 5-6 months)
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 5-6 months)
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.

CR-1
Slightly slower arrival in the US (currently about 5 months later)

    Less expensive than K-1
    No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required.
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.

Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.

I just finished CR-1 for my Brazilian husband.  The process took 11 months from filing the I-130 petition  to visa in hand.  Ask your fiance about the two options, K-1 is only slightly faster but he would not be able to work at all, in some states he could not get a driver's license, for 6-8 months and my husband was not willing to go through that horrible experience, so we got married and filed for a spousal visa instead of the K-1.  11 months went by faster than we thought it would.  Good luck!

LOL
If the USA hadn't won the war for its freedom, today it would essentially be living in under tyranny, just like those Canadians - with their terrible healthcare for all, lower overall tax rate, lower infant mortality, better life expectancy, lower murder rate, etc etc :)

Just remember this, if an embassy is closing it means we are probably going to war with that country.

What you overlooked in what you were reading is that USCIS international offices at US Embassies are closing.

The UK is our biggest ally. We are NOT going to war with them. Was this a joke?
