Well we were at war with them. I think we can come up some reasons to do so again.   They drive on the wrong side of the road, spell words wrong like colour and labour. ;)

Paul check this out.

It was another way of saying "You misread the information.  The embassy is not closing"........but is humorous (to me, anyway) that so many people think that USCIS office and US embassy are the same.

JFH thank you for the info. I read your reply. He's in the UK, I'm in the US. If we could do the spousal visa without my income yet and able to marry in the UK then bring him back with me that would be great. I don't know how all of this works.

You’re not going to petition for a spousal visa until after you get married.  You cant approve, marry, come back together.  Marriage certificate is an attachment to the original petition which is filed after you are married.  The petition takes 6-7 months to approve, then it takes 2-4 months after that to get the actual visa.

Visa would be issued 11-15 months after you file then he can come to the US.  During that time you can probably visit each other.

You can petition for a fiance visa now.  7-9 months, he enters the US, you get married in the US.  As was pointed out, you have to file to adjust status to get the green card after you get married and it will be a few months before he gets his EAD card to get a drivers license and job.  That’s a tough few months.

Either way if you can’t meet income requirements by the time the petitions are approved you can use a co-sponsor.

To the OP:

File 129F as soon as possible, your financial situation is not relevant on petition stage. Currently approval times for 129F are 3-4 months, who knows what they will be when later. This is low watermark. You don't want to wait.

Also note that if you know you’ll need a cosponsor it’s best to start looking at the requirements for that now and who you can ask.

Some people hit a roadblock because they can’t find a cosponsor.

Hello,

I'm new on here and just coming across some info about the London Embassy is closing!?? Could someone please help clear things up? I have read several posts already and I'm so confused.

My situation is this:

Just moved back to the states and currently not working.

My fiance lives in the UK.

Planning on filing for K-1.

Currently looking for employment.

Questions:

1. Can I start the process and file the I-129F without a current job or is that an immediate denial?

2. When is the US Embassy in London no longer giving visa interviews/visas/closing?

3. If they close before he can get an interview, where will that take place?

Thank you

I hope it’s not true, my spouse will have an interview in London embassy. Please let me know if you know anything or any updates will help. Thanks.

The embassy is NOT....I repeat...NOT closing.......some people are confusing the closing of foreign USCIS offices with embassies closing......

Thank you for the info.

This effects Direct Consular Filing cases, but not K-1 or CR-1/IR-1 cases.

Isn’t direct consular filing same as IR1/CR1? I’m confused what does direct consular filing mean?

Different process of filing for the same visa.  DCF simply means if you are eligible,  you can file the petition overseas versus stateside.   Much faster but only a select few are eligible

YMMV
