Just read this news today. Is this real or if it is, is it taking effect now? How is this going to affect on-going applications or already approved ones.

For me, I don't really mind if they take a peek on my social media accounts and emails. They're just going to see a bunch of cute dogs pictures and Shakey's (pizza joint) promotions 😅

It's not fake news. They are asking for this info for embassy stage applications. But this also have been already discussed in existing threads.

Wait, what?  Where do you live that there still exists Shakey’s Pizza?

Fake News

I just looked at the 129F forum which seems as if the have rolled the G325 application into that recently and don't see anywhere asking for social media or prior phone numbers, etc.

Nope, not fake.

There are already like 3 threads here on VJ with screen-shots of pulldown menu lists of social media platforms, for DS-160 and DS-260.

Apparently started sometime last week.

They're still actually really big here in the Philippines. Not the best like before but still my go-to whenever I crave for pizza.

Right, until it’s mentioned in i129 forum, it’s fake. When asked of social media handle during the visa interview, one can get away with ,”You can’t ask for that, it’s not passed by i129f forum”

Well, I wonder how that works?

I have about 10 phone numbers in the Philippines in the last few years, Who know what they were since you just get a new phone number for less than $1, and last month when I entered SIMS cards are free when you buy talk time.

Facebook or other social accounts, who uses a real name? No one that I know.

Literally most of the people use real names in Facebook at least...

Also phones are not social media?

We used to have them in Texas in the 70's, seems as if only a few exist on the West Coast in USA.

They are popular in Philippines, but their pizza is not very good which is pretty normal.  Greenwich, Yellow Cab are pretty bad as well.

US companies pizza Pizza Hut and Dominios don't taste like the do in USA,  I found a Papa Johns in Manila last trip and it was very good and tasted just like a it does back in the USA

Not in the Philippines Facebook, You rarely see anyone use their real names, they used fake names, especially the girls.

If you read the article the very first sentence says:  "The State Department is now requiring nearly all applicants for US visas to submit their social media usernames, previous email addresses, and phone numbers."

Since when are phone numbers social media accounts?

Literally everyone I know uses their real names on Facebook.

As said above, there are several threads about people being asked for their social media accounts with passwords at the embassy stage. It is not fake news.

If you can read the article it says one the first line of the article :" The State Department is now requiring nearly all applicants for US visas to submit their social media usernames, previous email addresses, and phone numbers."

Using real FB names must be Western thing, cuz I know many girls in Philippines and majority have fake names on FB or may use only their first or middle name and then some other fake names.  It pretty silly to use a real name on FB in my opinion, t just asking for trouble

Seems as if the last few years many people communicate with Facebook Messenger and only buy data for their phones,  a lot don't text or call so they don't buy load anymore, Data has become the predominate way to communicate and Messenger is very popular.

So you spend a lot of time in the Philippines?
