They also gave him his x-ray back(?) is that normal

Yes. The embassy doesn't want it, nor does the clinic. His TB clearance is noted on the paper report. They give it back in case he wants to save it for future personal medical purposes. Or he can use it for a coaster.😛

They typically say to put in you carryon luggage for POE, but those immigration blokes are not radiologists and will not be reading his X-ray.

Congrats!

The K1 interview was the thing I was most terrified of, but it was, the easiest part of this whole journey.

Yes, getting the x-ray disc back is normal.

The next wait (for visa in hand) feels like eternity, even though it’s usually within 2 weeks.  And then, your love will come to you and you get to start forever.

Congrats again!

It was the most stressful part I was sleep walking all week from stress so glad it's approved thank you. The wait now shouldn't be too bad we have a lot of plans between now and vih to focus on. Like packing and transferring and getting AOS all ready for when he gets here. I'm a happy lady today.

Do you have any wedding plans yet? We're way older and had previous weddings, so just wanted the marriage certificate to get on with the AOS. We married the 5th day after POE and that included a required 3 day wait in Texas between license and marriage. It was a  Sunday afternoon tea party of sorts with about a dozen friends so not totally bureaucratic and boring.

We are having two weddings. The first being the official wedding on February 27th. It'll just be us two of our friends as witnesses and the officiant at an art museum in town and we are going to a lovely Italian restaurant afterward. Then our ceremony in September with his family flying out. The same officiant for both weddings and I'll wear my dress for both. :) I wanted to leave enough time to get our marriage license and apply for his social before the first wedding because I've read it is not possible to get one after you are married til AOS is approved. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sounds like a great plan.

The deal with the SSN is that some offices have clueless workers who just don't understand immigration. A K1 is eligible for a SSN up until two weeks before their 90 days are up, married or not. But uninformed workers have told people "Oh, you got married so you are now a K3 and not eligible". BS!  Your visa can't magically change to a different visa.

Best bet in case you happen to get a clueless person is just don't bring up marriage or ask for the social in any new name. Apply in the exact name printed on your I-94 even if they run together your middle names like JOHNDAVID SMITH. Be JohnDavid. They have to find the name immigration has recorded, or they do manual verification which takes time being mailed off to USCIS. Get the SSN and sort the names out later. That is easy to do once you have EAD or a greencard. If given any flack, ask for a supervisor who should know the rules and don't leave until they let you see one. I was already married and had sent off AOS before going to the Social Security office. Had a good worker and the card received in the mail within a week.

My fiance just gave me his experience and since he doesn't use this site I'll relay for him.

When he first got there they asked for his ds160 and they put a sticker on it and gave it back to him. He went into the first room and there were to lines with a woman at the end letting people know where to go. He went upstairs to his correct area. He said it was an open floor plan with two windows. They called his number and the first man took his fingerprints and asked when he was coming to the US. Asked for police certificate, affidavit of support, ds160, passport, his birth certificate, and one American passport photo. The man at the first window gave him his x-ray photo. The second window he went to the lady was very stern and asked him if he had ever worked in the US, had any other visas, if he had ever been arrested when was he last in the US, when did he leave, and if he had ever been married/divorced before. She took the second set of fingerprints. And said your visa should be approved. He asked her, so I have my visa? She said "Yes you will receive it in 8-9 business days" and that was that.

Didn't ask any questions about me or us. Strange. I'll take it though.

The first window was a clerical person collecting documents for the file.

The second window was the Consular officer and that was the interview.

Is it wierd they didn't ask questions about us or me? I'm thinking maybe my fiance just had it slip his mind to be honest he was pretty tired from the train ride.

No, not weird really. They don't dally around much if they think you are legit. They are pretty good at what they do. They asked me very little.

Agreed.  I wasn’t asked a whole lot about anything related to the relationship.  The only thing he asked was where we met.  The rest was idle chit chat about nothing in particular.

I think they only grill you and try and try and shake something loose if they think there’s anything amiss about it.
