USPS tracking says greencard delivered but no greencard

Uscis sent me an email that my greencard was delivered on January 17th but there was no green card in my mail box. When I check the the tracking number it says that it was delivered on January 17th at 4:21 pm.  I contacted uscis and the agent said to contact usps which I did. After a hour and a half wait, the usps agent said that they have to open an inquiry. At present I am not in the US. What should I do now?

Which green card is this? 2 year or 10 year?? You'll have to get USPS to investigate but I'd be more concerned that you're out of the US without a valid GC.

I assume it's a 10 year GC from OP's IR-1 timeline, https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=280066:

  • Marriage (if applicable): 2016-10-04
  • US Entry: 2018-11-29

I assume OP has a foreign passport with a CBP endorsement on (or near) the immigrant visa which is a vaild I-551 document*.

*I-551 document = GC document

This might be slightly off topic. But is normal to get an email from USCIS, with tracking information when the greencard is sent out?

Thank you!

I don't know if it's normal but it was updated on the old uscis website and I did receive the email.

I personally wouldn't raise the issue over 1 day. It has no practical consequences so long as you don't file for ROC and/or citizenship exactly 90 days beforehand (or file for ROC on the exact due date).

We had to do an I-90 one year ago to correct an error on a GC (mistake with the name, not with dates). It took more than a year before we got the corrected GC back in our hands. Definitely a slow process for sure, but hey at least there aren't any fees when it's an error.

Honestly, maybe it's worth contacting your local USCIS field office to check on that? I agree with @geowrian that it technically doesn't really make any difference but their computers/records might have a different date, and maybe that could be a problem or cause confusion down the road, if you need to do ROC at some point.

I agree it doesn't matter.  Ignore it.  A mistake with no consequences.
