Without the stamp on your extension? 

That does not make sense at all. When you get the stamp for 12 months then the extension letter is no longer valid. 

 

You are over reacting here. You will be just fine traveling with the Green card and the original extension letter. The people at the boarder know exactly what that is.

there reason I am saying that is there are some people already stuck or had problem coming back to the US/

 

so you think its normal I have not received any Biometrics appointment letter yet?

There are no messages in the dedicated thread about traveling with extension letter about anyone having any issues. Yes, people get taken into secondary in the US but that’s expected. Yes, not all folks on airline registration would be familiar with the letter (or the stamp), but that’s resolved by speaking with a manager so i simply don’t think that what you are saying is accurate.

 

Re biometrics - no one can tell you that, you need to call the service line and ask if you are concerned that the letter might have gotten lost. But  some people don’t need to do biometrics during ROC so it might be completely normal.

All airlines selling ticket with a destination in the US (whether direct or connecting to another partner airline) MUST refer to this guide as to what is constituted acceptable proof of residency, visa, passport etc.

It is the official document issued by the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the airlines must go by that.

 

In this guide, it states clearly that:

1. An expired green card with a notice of action (I-797) extending the card is ACCEPTABLE

2. A temporary stamp (ADIT) placed in the passport is ACCEPTABLE

 

I have a stamp in my passport and I travel with this guide printed out.  I have had an issue once and I asked to speak with someone who knows better.

Yes, I have not received one either and many others are also waiting. They are just backlogged with ROC and often they reuse the bio for the ROC. I'm not worried at all.

 

They are not stuck if they have their papers in order. GC and extension letter is enough. Like I said you will be fine.

I agree with @Georgia I received notice as well after calling and speaking to a tier 2 officer who took action and mailed it off the next day. So I'm not even concerned about the biometrics once I can continue with my daily life and take care of my family I'm good. I have never heard anyone having issues travelling with letter.  So let the waiting begin the last I checked CSC is approving February2018 Filers but I'm at NBC so that may take a while for me. Good luck to everyone and dont get too dramatic about this.

Well, after two service requests and many, many calls to USCIS... no letter has ever arrived.  In fact, during our last call we were informed that no one has ever been assigned to deal with either of our service requests (the first of which was made at the end of December). 😕

We ended up calling for an appointment at our local office and getting the passport stamp because of several vital things expiring.  The officers there were very helpful and we ended up being sent for biometrics prior to them issuing us a stamp; they would not issue a stamp without updated biometrics. We heard several other people in the same situation being told the same thing.

We were advised that biometrics only stay "current" for 15 months and that anything outside of that timeline will end up needing biometrics at some point; they said that without the biometrics being officially processed and current that our case would stay stagnant anyway until they were updated.  You may hear something different, but that's what we were told in person.

I received another original 18 month extension letter from USCIS Texas service center in the mail Lol. Now I have 2 extension letters which is good in case something happens to my other one. Good luck to everyone else.
