Malauriea posted a topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHi guys, I'm starting a new thread for people in my case getting ready to send their package i751 to remove conditions on their green card. I sent mine today, and will get there on November 1st. So I'm a November filer. Here we go, let share and help each other if necessary 😉
Eddy Haas posted a topic in Finding Work in AmericaHey Friends, I know this is not the right page for this but I see that many of you are worried about losing employment if you don't receive your i797 by the time your Green Card's expires. Here is what I found by doing some research. " If you presented a valid permanent resident card when you were hired, your employer cannot request proof of the new one. The situation is reverse if you are applying for a new job. If you apply for a new job with an expired permanent resident card, then you must show your I-751 receipt. The employer can also ask to verify your status when your temporary proof expires. So, moral of the story is: try not to go job-hunting when your I-751 renewal is pending." - Weblink click here. By law, your employer can't ask you to provide any further validation as long as you provided a valid green card at the time of your hiring. Here is a screenshot, also please follow this link for additional details on USCIS Website: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/71-lawful-permanent-residents-lpr I hope this helps you spend your Holidays in a better mood while USCIS takes their sweet time in sending out our receipt notices. Good Luck and Happy Holidays.
Prometheus91 posted a topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHey guys . I've been looking through a lot of place online but couldn't find any info about this anywhere do I decided to make a topic about it . I know uscis processing times show that they're currently working on cases from August 3 2016 and I also know that wherever you go they say it takes almost a year if not more to get your i-751 approved but my brother in law filed in May 2016 and got approved in August 2016 so it took only 3 months and I filed in September 2017 and still waiting he's telling me that i should get approved anytime now . My question is does it matter which State you live at the time of filing . Because we live in Knoxville Tennessee and he said it takes faster in Tennessee and that 1 year period is for bigger states that has more application going in . If anyone from Tennessee has had the same experience as my brother in law please let me know. Thanks in advance .
JKE posted a topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI timely filed the I-751 when my conditional green card was expiring and was sent the 1 year extension letter. It's taken so long to process the I-751 that the 1 year letter is set to expire soon. At an InfoPass appointment, I obtained a I-551 stamp in my passport, which states, "serves as tempoaray I-551 evidencing permanent residency for 1 year". To get the I-551 stamp, USCIS took my expired green card. To evidence my status, I have the I-551 stamp and the expired 1 year letter. Will there be issues returning to the US? The USCIS agent said it would be no problem and I understand that in theory, the I-551 stamp is equivalent to an actual green card; however, the current state of US politics has me worried.
