Didn't get RFE but the interviewing officer didn't have our medicals in our files so didn't approve us on the day. We were expecting RFE to get them done again. 6 weeks later we got approved with no explanation.

Thank you for your response. Hopefully we’ll get it ASAP too lol and congrats 🎊

Hi everyone.  I submitted my I-485 and accompanying forms on June 24, 2019 to Chicago and have FedEx confirmation the package was signed for on June 26.   Taking into consideration the July 4 holiday, 9 working days have passed and I have not received the e-confirmation nor has the fee been charged to my credit card. Checked online case status and no activity is noted since the I-129 in January.   I have noticed other similar timelines where notification has happened much quicker - they want your money and then the file can sit in limbo!    Anyone else out there with similar filing dates and no response yet?   I can’t even send an email inquiring because it hasn’t been 30 days yet.

Hi Everyone,

It's good to know all your feedback and comments with regards to your AOS interview experienced at the USCIS Detroit Field. My AOS interview is on August 22, 2019 and in my AOS interview letter states that I must bring "A completed medical examination (Form I-693) and vaccination supplement in a sealed envelope (unless already submitted)". Did anyone of you bring this form to the interview? I had already taken my medical exam and also got the vaccination shots that the US immigration required when we filed for the K-1 visa. Do I have to take another immigration medical examination before going to the interview?

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Hey! Everyone gets the same form with the interview date and since  I already sent my medical examination I DID NOT bring another one. They didn’t ask me for a new one because I already had it. Good luck guys!

Hi VJ members,

We had our interview 7/10 and got approved.

We received a text that card is being produced within 20 min of leaving USCIS, NOA in mail 7/15 + text that card has been mailed, and finally card is in our hands today 7/18.

Very thankful how fast our Detroit office has processed our AOS and best of luck to all who are still waiting.

I will more than likely be back in couple years when the time comes for ROC ^^

For those of us who didn't get the EAD before the interview, but selected on the form to have a SSN issued with it, do we still get the SSN with the GC or do we have to apply for that ourselves?

@Canadian87 Go to the SS office with your GC  and application filled out ( probably passport too ) . The EAD should stop processing after GC approval though not necessarily immediately.

Thanks alun. I suppose I can't do this without the GC in hand? I thought perhaps I could get the ball rolling on this while I wait, that maybe the proof of approval would be enough?

After going through security, you check in and then go to the waiting area and wait to be called by the interviewing officer. Once you're in their office they run through the questions your spouse answered in Part 8 of your application (swearing an oath to tell the truth and questions like "Have you ever committed any offences?", "Have you come to the US to overthrow the government?/commit bigamy, etc, etc."). This part takes quite a while. Your spouse will have to answer yes/no to every single question. Then they move on to your relationship questions - how you met, who proposed, where you got married, who was at your wedding, where your spouse works, what's their birth date, etc. At the end our interviewing officer asked if we had any more evidence to submit and I gave her some more copies of correspondence we'd received as a couple since filing, a couple of new photos of us together, some latest bank statements and our latest joint tax return (we filed for AOS in October so we had filed taxes since then).

Try not to be nervous. They are on the look out for any signs of fraud. Being anxious or over-affectionate will raise flags. It's ok if you don't remember something like a specific date.
