Hello All,

This is Balaji, I have applied for AOS on June 1st. And my local field office is Detroit. Currently I am waiting for my Interview to be scheduled and EAD card to be issued.

I am creating this topic for all of the AOS filers past or present and have Detroit field office as their local USCIS office, so we can all share our experiences during AOS process.

Hopefully this would be helpful...!!

Thanks,

Balaji.

My field office is also Detroit. I had my biometrics on August 28th and the next day case changed to ready to be scheduled for an interview.

I guess we just have to be patient now and wait it out.

Hello TJ,

It is good to hear from you. I had my bio-metrics done on June 28th and i believe my case changed to "ready to be scheduled for an interview" on July 5th.

yeah, it appears that the Detroit office is a bit slower or it might be processing a lot of applications which were already in backlog.

I came to know from one of the Visa-journey user (who is from Detroit area), that he got his interview scheduled a week ago and his priority date is May 10th.

So it might be a while before it is our turn depending on the number of applications they received.. Hopefully soon :)

My wife and I had our NOA1 on Sept 6th, so we are newer into the phase but want to join in the convo once we reach the next step. My friend who is also in the area, had their interview scheduled 5 months after their NOA1, so hopefully this timeline is about right for all of us.

Congratulations on our Marriage :D

Welcome to this topic for Michigan area AOS filers.

Yeah, interview getting scheduled around 5 months after NOA1 sounds about the average time for Detroit office. I am following two people on VisaJourney that have filed on May 24th and got their interviews scheduled for October 10th. I believe its around 4 months after their NOA1 but I guess it depends on the office's work load as well.

I have applied on June 1st and my NOA1 date is June 11th, So I am hoping to hear something soon from the USCIS may be in a week or two. LOL :bonk:

Wow that's really fast... or mine is just too slow 😅

I just got my combo a week ago but 130/485 are still "fingerprints reviewed" . I'm in Detroit too.

I've seen many people have their 485 status changed to "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview" before they got the combo and I always thought ...well maybe it's different from state to state and now I'm in a little bit of panic. 😣

Should I be worried? I filed everything on April 4th.....

Hi,

I am sorry for your long wait for the interview. 😕

It definitely looks odd that you being a April 4th filer didn't get your interview scheduled till now. I know of a couple of other Detroit filers who filed on May 24th and got their interviews scheduled for October 10th.

Did you have any RFE's issued ?? because sometimes RFE's can delay the case progress significantly.

Please do not panic, from what i have heard, sometimes some applications get stuck with some of the officers who have heavy work load.

But to move things forward, You might wanna contact your area congressman and get them request the USCIS to look into your case.

I am really hoping you get to hear some good news soon.😃

All the very best 😊

One quick question .... Are you sending the forms (I-130 + I-485 + I-765 + I-131) all together or just  (I-485 + I-765 + I-131) ???

If it is the first case where you are also filing I-130 along with AOS, EAD and AP, you need to make two checks. One for I-130 and one for I-485.

If it is the second case just the AOS + EAD + AP,  you need to make only one check for AOS application.

In both cases EAD and AP are free of filing costs because they are accompanying an AOS application. Just the AOS filing fee is enough.

I hope this helps 😊

I have not received any notices for RFE. If there's any RFEs, I would be less worried since it means someone is working on my case.

Thanks for the suggestion to contact congressman, we will try that route! Hopefully it will work this time, last time we contacted him regarding expedition of combo , he basically said there's nothing he can do.... 😅

But I read somewhere that complaining on visajourney for some reason speeds up the progress 🤣 (jokingly true!). Finger crossed. And good luck on your interview!

Yeah I believe your congressman or senator might be helpful.

alternatively you could call USCIS call center and talk to the representative and see what they think of it.. no harm in trying.

I hope yours get scheduled soon.
