Are all K-1 cases routinely transferred from Texas to California?

It seems that any new K-1 case that is originally filed at the Texas Service Center is automatically transferred to the California Service Center. Is this true? Can anyone confirm or deny this?

The address we send our petitions are just to a lockbox facility where the petitions are received. They are then forwarded on to the service center to handle our cases. Most to California but occasionally to other service centers.

That is true. We had the same thing happen to us.

Yes - almost all K-1 cases are processed at the California Center. The ones processed elsewhere are unusual cases such as expedited petitions.

  • 12/07/2018 Sent AOS, EAD and AP forms 
  • 12/13/2018 NOA1
  • 12/21/2018 Received Biometrics appointment letter

  • 03/20/2019 USCIS online case status for I-485 changed to "Case is Ready to be Scheduled for an Interview" 
  • 06/10/2019 EAD/AP expedite request submitted with evidence through Congressman's office
  • 06/17/2019 New Card is Being Produced! (EAD)
  • 11/15/2019 Interview! Approved 4 hours later
  • 11/23/2019 Received Green Card in the mail
  • 8/19/2021 Sent Removal of Conditions form
  • 8/24/2021 Application received, NOA1
  • 10/25/2021 Received biometrics waiver (dated 10/21/21)
  • 11/22/2021 Received 24-month extension letter
  • 11/7/2022 Filed N-400 Online

Kind of makes no sense. Why not just have us send the petitions to California to begin with? Meanwhile they received my K1 petition on December 21. NOA 1 date is December 26th. USCIS has December 21st as their current  “Receipt date for a case inquiry"  so I will be able to file a  “outside normal processing time”  service request once this date moves back a day from December 20th.

1) Because they use to process I-129Fs at multiple service centers, and may do so again in the future at any point.

2) Because the lockbox is best equipped to process the initial acceptation/rejection, scanning them into the system, and processing the payment. The service center is best equipped to adjudicate the petitions (they have the actual IOs).

After many years of holding various different types of US visas and dealing with all their fuss, I've concluded that the way to stay sane is never to expect their system to make sense. Lower your expectations and you'll be pleasantly surprised when something gets processed efficiently! :jest:

The same thing happened with our application too I think this is how they do it now .

04/09/2019    NOA1 received/check cashed i 485 and 130 (direct adjustment)

11/7/2019      Interview- Norfolk

11/10/2019    APPROVED (notification rec'd 11/10, approval dated 11/8)

DONE FOR TWO YEARS!!! ;)

 

Filed everything ourselves with no RFE's or delays.

 

CR1 for Child under 21 (20 at time of filing)- Filed by LPR Spouse for his son

4/4/20     Mailed packet

4/12/20   NOA1 rec'd

10/14/21 (havent heard anything... when do i start to get worried?)

9/15/22 APPROVED! Now to wait for NVC and interview....

All cases go to California unless there a "special" case then It goes to Vermont.

noa1 date is actually they date on ur hard copy. Sadly if u reach the magical 220 day u must wait till 225 to contact Uscis. They use what the new site says. Even if ur paper says X date. 

They added 5 days onto everyone’s accepted on NOA1

For example, from the NOA1 hardcopy or the email notification (if you filed the G-1145 form with your I-129f form).

 

As far as I learned, if your case number starts with WAC it is proceed by the California Service Centre.

To be even more specific, it goes to CSC first then can be transferred to VSC if there are certain "conditions" met.

It's my understanding that expedited cases go to Vermont. Could be wrong.
