Submitting my family tree (NVC stage)

I am in between paying the fees for NVC.

I realized that I had never submitted a family tree into uscis. It is not required but it does limit the possibilities of hurdles that can be created. Since I didn't submit to USCIS, I am thinking about submitting into NVC, just so they will have it in hand if it ever comes up while they interview her when that time comes.

Thoughts?

Current Timeline:

08/26/2020 - Mailed via USPS the form i-751 to Az address

08/28/2020 - Delivered to USCIS

09/02/2020 - Photo Album was rejected and returned.

09/12/2020 - CC payment taken.

09/13/2020 - Received text msg with the Receipt #

09/25/2020 - Received i-751 NOA

Not needed for Vietnam. Don't waste your time - more importantly, don't waste their time. Send what is required and nothing more. Vietnam consulate is a serious, straightforward place. They play by the rules - you should do the same. Leave that family tree in the proverbial forest of ideas.

Vietnam Consulate sometimes asks for a tree.

I am guessing in the past this was a good a way to visa scam by bringing family members over.

Anyways I wouldn’t worry unless you hav similar names.

In some countries (Pakistan & Egypt Ive seen specifically) the consulate will look up or ask for the FRC = Family Registration Certificate (list family members in household, father, children etc.).  I would not send to NVC but perhaps bring a copy of interview just in case it comes up.

A Family tree CAN be relevant, particularly if the US Citizen's heritage (country of family origin) is the same as the foreign spouse's.   I would just take it to the interview, if you think it is relevant.

Unless I am missing something, I think you are over-thinking this.  I have not seen a requirement to send a family tree, and I see no way it would help your wife during her interview........I would only send what is asked for.

Hi Cat.

I know this an old post but me and my wife were just requested to fill this out. Family-tree form.

I don't see any harm in briefly bringing this topic back to life.  Will you confirm that both you and your wife have Vietnamese heritage?  That's the only circumstance I've heard of this need. Specific to Vietnam and then only when both the couple heritage is Vietnamese.

Hello Friend. I am English and not asian. She is vietnamese. It was a strange request especially she said they did not look at anything besides marriage certificate and birth records and my divorce records

Strange.  Note that typically the applicant's file is reviewed prior to being called to the interview window.  This is definitely Vietnam specific though and better answers can probably be found in the appropriate regional forum.
