Renewal of EAD rejected. Fee missing with pending AOS?

Hi everyone

 

I am really shocked to receive news my petition to renew my  EAD was rejected due to missing fees and outdated form. The form I understand I used mostly the one I sent long ago with my original AOS package. But it is to my understanding I do not have to pay a fee if my AOS is pending. Three days ago I received an e-mail that my interview was scheduled. But I haven't received anything in the mail.  My renewal  AP was approved and is now in processing and I didn't send any fees for it.  

 

My questions are: is a c9 category still valid for renewal of EAD?  I sent the proof my AOS was pending. What else do they need to show I don't have to pay for it. 

 

Would it be wise not to send it and wait for the AOS interview and just wait for the GC ?

Saw someone else dealing with the same thing recently, you're not alone unfortunately. Attach the I-485 NOA1 again, and a note explaining that fee is waived, and you should be fine.

EAD is free for c9 category.

 

A couple of other people reported the same issue. The problem is not the fee but using an outdated form. Check your form and make sure it is version 07/17 and not 07/01. I know the letter says incorrect fee, but they reported calling USCIS about it and the rep told them that the message is a generic and it's not the fee.

They didn't return my photos or any other proof I sent.  Do I need to send it again?

I just mailed my EAD renewal (using the 7/17 form) under the (c)(9) category. Has anyone had it rejected with this form because they actually overlooked the (c)(9) category or has it only been because of the 7/1 form and their automated message being about the fee?

I'm sorry I don't know. But if that was me, I would resend everything as if it's a new packet.

not that i have heard of, both cases i saw reported here a few days ago where for outdated forms.

It's a generic thing. They always add "wrong fee" when something else is wrong.

 

Had you sent the most recent form your application would've been accepted. So that's all you need to do now.

I am sorry about your  application I am going to apply my EAD renew to I try to find the form on usics website and its say expire in 02/28/2018 which form you submit that is that form have same expire date to or do we need to use that form

Form dates are funny, on top of the form it may say 2019, then on the bottom it may say 2016. I alway use the forms from USCIS the same day I send the form in. I also have a working form saved in my computer and copy everything into the form I am going to send that day, pulled up from the USCIS website. I also use explorer for all Government forms.
