Hi fellow ATLANTA filer , have you received any news ?

Evening to everyone,

My husband and I had his AOS interview on yesterday and he was approved!! 😃 We had our interview in Atlanta,GA and had to go through a metal detector which the security guards were quite friendly. They check his appointment letter before they allowed us to go through the dectector. From there you go to a Checkin window and they asked for his ID and appointment letter. They then handed him a ticket and we had to take the elevator to the 3rd floor.

The downstairs lobby was a bit crowded but upstairs you could count the people waiting on two hands. It was less than 15mins and we were called by the officer for our interview. She had the most mean look on her face. We greeted her and she told us what her job was to do and then we we're sworn in.

The questions were basic. Just questions from the application. How we met and me traveling.

They have all the documents; all the pictures you ever sent them right at the desk.

The officer was writing, typing, and flipping through the forms. She did ask him was he working, asked me how much is the mortgage. She then elaborated on my husbands answers. We also talked about the visits and she pulled out a few pictures we had sent and looked at them.

As the interview went on the officer smiled and laughed as we answered the questions.

She then asked for our photos and proof of joint accounts and our relationship. I explained my bank would not allow my husband to get an account without a greencard to confirm he's a resident because that's what the CU told me. I also explained about the other card we didn't get because they told us they couldn't confirm his identity. He had no credit yet so that's probably why. I told her he has a card though through his job. She was like okay. She told us what we needed to do because it's not true he can get a card. I gave her the documents of the other joint accounts we had together and the accounts he pay but she just closed the folder and didn't really look at it.

She asked did we have photos and reviewed our photo book and photo story book.

The officer then said that she believes  that we have a real relationship and that she would like to approve him for his "Green Card!" She said she believes we truly love each other and she could see us being married forever. That felt good to hear from her. Because we are in love. We shook her hand thanked her and headed on our way. We were told it takes 2-3 weeks to receive the card.

If you know anyone who is about to file a K1 or AOS; front loading, pictures, and spending time with one another are your friend. Because she was skeptical at first but due to us spending a lot of time together and being with his family she said she was convinced we loved each; which we truly do.

God has granted us favor as well and this is a great blessing! Happy happy happy 😆

Good luck to you all.

Hi! I haven't been active here at all but I thought I'd still write here. I had my interview also in Atlanta just a day before you!

I was so stressed about the interview and one the reasons was because I didn't have full copies of the applications I had sent because my printer died at the time. So I had missing pages and pictures on my phone of some pages. Also for some reason I couldn't find the very first noa1 and other notices from the k1- times even though I keep all the important papers in the same place. I had to recreate the whole green card application package and it took me hours. I also had like 30 photos of me and my husband, all the wedding cards we got and our wedding vows and joint accounts and things like that. Two very thick folders just full of stuff.

Well in the interview none of this stuff was needed! The interviewer didn't ask much it was actually my husband asking him stuff and telling him about us and just talking about movies. Turned out the interviewer was a fan of comic books and superhero movies just like me and my husband. The only questions he asked were how we met, why I liked my husband when I first met him, what my parents thought of me living so far away and how many times we visited each other's countries. There were a few questions more I think and he told he had ancestors from Finland (my home country) and that he was listening to a podcast of Finland's history. He didn't ask to see almost any of the evidence just our birth certificates, my passport, marriage certificate and the interview notice. No pictures of us or anything.

I got approved and actually received my green card in the mail! The only thing is that I noticed that there is a mistake in my card🙃🙃🙃 the resident since date is dated on 2018 for some reason and the card expires already 2020. It doesn't make any sense because the interview date was 04/11/2019 and in the card the resident since date is 04/11/2018. That's even before I sent the green card application! The the letter that came with the green card has the right year on it as well as the noa1 so I don't know how that is possible.

I've made plans to travel to my home country in june and I worry this card will ruin everything

Hello Liz!

Thank you for this information. I live in dallas tx so im assuming im way within normal processing time. I have a follow up to question 3.

If the 6 months extension is still not enough time to cover the rest of the processing time, do i just re apply again ?

Getting paranoid and dont want to give up my current job if that happens..

thank you!

Hey. Just checking in. We are in DFW too, and we just got our notice that an interview was scheduled. If you haven't gotten yours yet, I bet it is coming soon.

hello,

does anyone have experience in using AP to travel abroad?

I am taking a trip to London next week with my combo EAD but I am nervous. Because on USCIS website , it said it depends on the border...

can anyone share your experience with AP traveling out of the US?

Thanks.

I traveled with AP last month, as soon as I got to the first US port of entry (Dallas, TX in my case) I handed him my passport and EAD card, he then did the basic taking fingerprints stuff and escorted me to the waiting room (secondary inspection) and they was looking over my passport and EAD card, I was waiting in there for around 20 minutes and it was packed full of other people. I then got called up to the counter, they handed my passport and EAD card and I was free to go.

It was all relatively painless and there was no problems with getting back in, obviously if you have a connecting flight make sure you have enough time to clear the secondary inspection because they can take as long as they want to check the documents.

K1 Filed – 05/07/17

K1 NOA1 – N0A2 – 02/06/2018 (211 days)

K1 Interview – 04/11/18 – Approved

Visa in Hand – 05/03/18

POE – LAX – 05/16/2018

Married – 06/11/2018

AOS Filed – 06/18/2018

My local office is Seattle as well and I haven't heard anything so far. I wondered how they process the case. There are some people who already got an interview even though they applied around the same time or later than me (I am September 2018 filer). Which makes me feel anxious. Hope everything work well for you!

Oh woooooooooooooooooow, 12 more months? Jesus Christ. This is beyond infuriating.

My parole expired in February but I was under the assumption that I did not need to re apply. At least that’s what my lawyer told me.

I think as long as you renew your work permit 6months before it expires- you’ll be okay. Your business should be okay too.

Hugs! Looks like we’re in for a long ride .

Does anyone know if it’s possible to request for a case to be transferred to a different state?

Its been almost a year since my case updated to “your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview” & according to Seattle processing times, it’ll probably take another year. Looks like things are moving a lot quicker in Portland.

Wondering if it’s possible to do my interview over there. 🤔
