One day I might get used to old guys at the VA coming up to my old guy and saying hey you ole eight-pointer you. I am long used to people demanding last four!  Still seems bizarre to me.

The place itself seems like a vast improvement on LR  which is a cesspool. We left well early, not knowing the lay of the land, or where the parking might be found, and not having an appointment letter to tell us where we actually were meant to be.  I figured we'd head to cardiopulmonary and start there.  Bang on the appointment time too, which is one thing we sure aren't used to. I actually spotted a Camp Lejeune poster for the first time.

Results in due course.

Dog was not impressed. By the time we got back here, she'd been on her own 6 hours. I am getting the hump. Happy to see you but I hate you.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

The cute young V.A. nurse approached the elderly soldier, admitted for treatment of an old war wound.

"Where were you shot, sir?" she asked him.

"In the Solomons, Miss," he replied.

"Oh, my!" she exclaimed.  "Did they hurt much?"

We got no nap today, no zzz for we man.

We out-cleaned several more kitchen cabinets, Clean for Gene we man.

It is amazing what lurks inside cabinetry, see discoveries man.

For example, we won't need to buy warshdishing liquid for at least Many (if not Many) years, no man.

And, we finally found the Many-pack of Finish Rinse Aid that we'd bought Many years ago for $Many at a GS, found man!

They were at the back of the under-sink cabinet where they should have been, too far in to see man.

At the time, we'd asked Mrs. T-B. where they were; she got her ADD look and said, "I don't remember," ADD she man.

Those + other discoveries = Many (2x2x2x2-2) bottles of Rinse Aid that we now have, no need to buy more for Many years man.

What VA are you going to if you don't mind me asking?

Honestly I feel bad for using the VA sometimes because I see a lot of older guys and here is a young(34) man waiting in line for things. But it was funny when I went for my physical last year at a clinic the nurse was practically undressing me with her eyes. She even went as far as to asking me a couple questions like "Please tell me you have a son, does he look like you, does he have your eyes?). I was sitting there pretty amazed actually, but we are around the same age so it's understandable.

I have a interview for a job at Camp Lejeune next week... It will take me getting a good paying job to go back to the hellhole.

Hey Jacksonville is a lot better now than when I was there. In fact, it shouldn't have been that bad when you were there...

I was there from 2002-2007 and then PCS'd down to Parris Island. Yeah it certainly had cleaned up from the heyday of the 80s & 90s from what I was told. But it's still a place I don't want to be around for along time that's why if I got the job I would live someplace like Sneads Ferry which is SE of Camp Lejeune and 10 mins from the Topsail Island.

It was bittersweet for my wife as well because in all likelihood this is our last child due to being fixed now. She gave a lot of the baby clothes to her niece in the Philippines who just had a baby, and it looks like she will be able to wear the clothes for a long time due to how small the 8 month old is now. Since we have a big 15 month old baby who is wearing 24 month clothes now we had to get rid of some clothes.

It's grown a lot since even I was there 10 years ago. A lot of people have moved into that area and they still have a Shrimp Festival. A friend of mine in High School lives there now with his family and loves it.
