Just a heads up to those traveling on the expired GC + letter - hubby had POE at EWR, and everything went smoothly.  It took longer for us to leave via FCO because I don't think they were familiar with the letter and wanted to make sure we could get back into the U.S. properly.

It sounds to me as if they will send us a new 18 month extension letter. I don't expect it any time soon, but I assume it will eventually come.

Anyone travel with their letter? I know there was a positive story here. My friend recently invited me to visit her in Europe and I'd love to go for a week but very nervous about coming back with just the letter and expired green card.  Would love to hear about other peoples' experiences. Thank you!

My wife and I just got back this past Monday. She was out of the country for 6 weeks and had no trouble at all traveling with an expired green card and the extension letter. Make sure you bring the original and not a copy. 

 

On a side note for those of you with Global Entry. When we returned she manually entered her green card number in the kiosk, it said it wasn't valid and to proceed to passport control. DO NOT go to the huge line, there's an officer a few feet away from the kiosk that processed her passport, etc. She had her Global Entry card that she presented to the officer. No issues there either.

There is https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov and then there is the old site with limited/no information https://egov.uscis.gov 

 

The first site gives you a one-time secure passcode sent to your registered email address to enter prior to granting you access to see your case details.

Hi There, i don't remember the exactly  date but i think was around march 15th  2018 , I  was talking with some other people  and according to them it will take up to next year to get any update on the case.

Hey everyone,

I'm going to Canada with my husband Monday with my expired green card and 1 year extension letter. That is all I need right? I also have my biometrics letter with the stamp saying that I got biometrics done, do I need to bring that as well ?
