So what's recommended? Bank won't let us get a joint account, he will get taxed to the high hills in the USA if I add him to my property, we are worried if he adds me to the rental agreement they will assume I've been living illegally. So what did  you provide? I'm not keen on having a child in the UK (someone says this is proof!), would rather have moved and settled be in the USA before getting pregnant. What did you provide in your CR1

Me?

None

So what other evidence did you provide? Just  looking for some ideas as I'm a UK citizen and he's US. It's pretty hard to get joint finances in the UK due to his citizenship. Is it the same in the US?

So what did you provide to bring your spouse over?

Most CR1's will not have much. Life Insurance, Medical Insurance?

How long ago did you get married?  If recently married, they are not going to expect you to have much or any financial co-mingling until you get your green card.

Marriage Certificate and a couple of affidavits are fine. That's all I submitted and I have asked people here and they say its enough.

I-130 Instructions:

NOTE: In addition to the required documentation listed above, you should submit one or more of the following types of documentation that may prove you have a bona fide marriage:

(1) Documentation showing joint ownership of property;  (I couldn't)

(2) A lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence, meaning you both live at the same address together; (I couldn't)

(3) Documentation showing that you and your spouse have combined your financial resources;  (I couldn't)

(4) Birth certificates of children born to you and your spouse together; (I couldn't)

(5) Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship. Each affidavit must contain the full name and address of the person making the affidavit; date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit; and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of your marriage; or

(6) Any other relevant documentation to establish that there is an ongoing marital union (I couldn't)

We added the following documents to our package:

1. Financial co-mingling (we didn't have that much as we had just married a few weeks before and we both own property -hence no tenants or rental agreements):

  1. Shared bank account - Name of the bank
  2. Credit Card Account : Authorized user
  3. Utility bill in our name

2. Relationship:

  1. Selected messages Facebook and emails while deployed
  2. Timeline of our trips with selected pictures (see point 3.) and boarding passes (point 4.)
  3. Pictures of us from each trip we had (some of us alone, some with kids, some with other family members)
  4. Boarding passes, itineraries, copies of passport pages to support above visual evidence
  5. Wedding pictures and engagement pictures
  6. Well-wishes from our family (cards and messages) regarding our engagement and wedding
  7. Two affidavits regarding our relationship from family members

If you have evidence regarding the financial co-mingling, then focus on that. Based on the feedback of the VJ community, this seems to be the focus.

Hope this helps.

For most recently married couples, the evidence will be the similar/same as what they would provide if they had been applying for a K1 with the addition of the documentation showing you are married

so trips to see each other, chat logs, call logs ect

We personally didn't have any.... Though I do have friends that did submit one or two with their application.

-We opened a new bank account that was ok with me not having a social and submitted that as a "joint bank account"

-Worked on putting both our names on our utility accounts and any other bills.

-Insurance

-Adding my name to my husband's work "emergency contact information."

perhaps if you're not able to put both your names on the actual lease, if you found something addressed that shows you both live at the same address... that my help?

I've heard of some writing up a will to have as evidence as well.

Best of luck :)
