Hi Guys! So I'm new to this whole process and this is my first time posting here. I searched for a little while to find a topic for October filers but I couldn't find one so I started one but if there's already one, could someone please direct me to that thread?

 

I'm looking forward to the help and support from others and I hope to be able to help others as well.

What to do after NOA2:

After USCIS approves the petition, it is sent to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC will assign you a case number and send your petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where your fiancé(e) lives.

The NVC will mail/email you a letter when it sends your fiancé(e) case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Once you receive this letter, inform your fiancé(e) to take the below-listed actions to apply for a K-1 visa and prepare for the interview.

Welcome.  Dont forget to fill out your timeline so you can get estimates and you can help others with their accuracy.

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

 

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

 

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

I've updated it but now I have a concern. Since I'm now engaged and have decided to apply for the K1 will this affect my visits to the US? I visit due to my job (meet & greets or site visits) as well as my (now) fiance. I was reading about person's having their B1/B2 visa revoked due to their relationship and the k1.

Also I have another question, what if the petitioner does not have a passport and submitted only their birth certificate? I'm sure the instructions said any of the listed which included a passport as well as a birth certificate.

It's ok, according to USCIS, ANY of those documents are valid. WE send both just because we wanted to send EXTRA documentation, but as long as you can prove you're US citizen, it doesn't matter which one you send them,

Ok well there's the issue that he's never owned a passport. He never felt a need to have it but he submitted his birth certificate both front and back copies. I'm hoping it won't be an issue. Doesn't sound that way at least :huh:

It shouldn't be an issue, they -the USCIS- just need to check he really is an US citizen, not if he has a passport to travel around the world. So, it should be just fine.

Welcome, I am a May filer, One thing I can tell you is have patience, pray, and ask as many questions you want. Your welcome to jump over to the May filers, there are many  there that are very helpful. Good luck and put your seat belt on, your in for a heck of a ride. But just keep the faith and you will be fine.

If you can update your Service Center to California as TX is just the lock box and your case is not actually an official transfer.
