Hey,

If I were to book the doctors with the NVC number, before CEAC updated to ready, would I get in any sort of trouble?

No ma'am!  Just make sure it's one of the embassy approved clinics or Physicians.

Just take into consideration that your visa will only be valid 6 months from the date of your medical exam. So if you were to get your medical exam today and you wanted to travel at the end of July, you would not be able to because it would be past the 6 months.

Our Journey:

11/21/2016- Waiver approved with expedite.
01/2017- Embassy requested interview.
04/2017- Fourth visit to Nigeria.  K1 officially denied.
04/25/2017- NOA1 for 2nd K1.

Hey all, thought I would check in and ask a couple of questions.

Ive been here now for 2 months and I've been enjoying my time with my fiancé. We had a crazy Christmas, lots of travelling, visiting family and friends in Virginia. We spent a week in the original settlement JamesTown in Williamsburg, VA. Such an eye-opener of how the British and other Europeans first came to the US (we don't learn about this in school in the UK so I really knew very little).

We spent New Year just the two of us back at our home in NC. Our 4th New year together and our 3rd actually together in person.

Since then we've had lots of fun shopping, hanging out, visiting parks, lakes and looking for houses! The weather has been crazy for me. One day it's -8C and snowing, the next it's 21C and sunny. It hardly ever rains here (not that I'm complaining).

So far I have my SSN and I have set up a bank account. Driving here is proving to be difficult. I can only use my UK license for 60 days. I can only get a US license until my visa runs out (an extra 30 days) which seems useless. Then I will be in the famous 'no mans land'. ☹️

So I guess my questions are:

How quickly should I expect to get my AP and work authorisation so that I can get a new license?

What type of things would you all suggest to keep myself occupied whilst not working now the holidays are over?

Hope everyone is doing great and enjoying their time in the US so far. Congrats to those who are already onto AOS, and good luck to those who are still persisting with NVC/USCIS

We read , AP about 2 or 3 months, but in fact now from 3 to 4 months. So, we are working now for AOS and AP too, because we have to visit my children in Russia this summer... meaning  that obtaining green card is more than a year now, AP is necessary.

For those of you that are at NVC or further along in the process and have an account on the USCIS website-

When you sign on to USCIS, your status still says approved, correct?

What is the last entry under "case history"?

I'm asking because with my petition from 2015 under case history the last entry says "Sent to the Department of State for processing".  I'm wondering if they still update it like that or if that is a thing of the past?
