checking in...... I'm going to see my family in Tokyo this month! I'm hoping this will be the last time I have to leave without them. This process sucks, I have my teenage son with me and have seen him grow from shorter than me to taller than me while this process continued in the background. My wife missed all his growth - except what she could see on FaceTime. Conversely I missed living with my daughter and listening to her life adventures as a pre-teen.

Man, there's gotta be a better way to get this done....

Good luck to all !

what is this "third n/a" that everyone is reffering to? in the immigrant visa portal place?

On the CEAC website your AOS fee will change from 'paid' to 'N/A' at some point. That's usually a sign that your case is complete.

You guys are all great and very supportive! I have tried not to notice the elephant in the room at times with my marriage and realize the emotional detachment that occurs throughout the wait. Yes, better times are coming but at what cost? I feel like you basically have to sift through the issues that are in play because of the long process in order to get back to being in love and happy. I'm learning to call this thing what it is!! But faith carries us throughout it all!!! Stay strong folks!!

hi~here to join the December thread

after long struggle, finally I sent the AOS and IV document out (fedex said will be arrived on Monday morning, finger cross)

totally agreed what u guys says earlier

I didn't see my man since September, don't feel like I am married, everyday just crazy working and go home for sleep, tired and sick for this kind of life

btw, my company going to send me to US for visiting customer

can I enter US if I am under the immigration process now?

(my company didn't know I am applying the immigration VISA! oops!)

Yes you can visit.

Make sure you bring strong ties to home to show that you will return after the visit - a letter from your employer detailing the purpose and duration of the trip, etc. The CBP officer will know as your passport number is logged in the system now as an intending immigrant but it's not against the rules to visit at this time - just be prepared for more scrutiny than usual.

a return fly ticket is going to be strong enough?

I can't let my company knows I am plan to move to US, not now, not the time we going to get bonus....oops

I had the most wonderful conversation with a gentleman named Sean at NVC! Our scan date is Oct. 21st and today marks 6 weeks and he said our case entered document review December 1st!! We are CR-1 and we did mail processing.

Sean from NVC gave me loads of information and I hope this information brings some peace to people:

He told me that the document review could be finished within 24 hours or by next week and what he explain to me was if our case is completed and approved, then it will take 2 weeks to get a "case complete" email, and if its incomplete (RFE), then I will get an email within 1 week of completion of document review. He also explained that if a civil document is missing or if there's an issue with the Af.of Supp., then they will send an RFE, but if a document of unimportance is missing, then they will just request we bring it to the final interview. Also, he explained that for people who call every day for status updates, it might be easier just to wait a week and ask for updates to reduce the stress everyone is feeling.

I would personally recommend waiting until the 6 week mark to call; I have called every day since 5 weeks, and I have checked the CEAC website every day also, but I should have waited until it was actually 6 weeks because I have been stressing so much hoping for early completion. I really think the NVC is backlogged, so that means they won't finish cases early, but for my case, they started document review right on time, which I am thankful to God for.

I also want to explain what Sean from NVC told me about the interview scheduling process: he explained to me that, for example, December 1-15, the NVC contacts all consulates/embassy's and see what days they have available and how many available for the upcoming month (January). Then from Dec 16-31st, the NVC works with each country by scheduling interviews all throughout the next month (January). If your case gets a CC by December 15th, then you might very well possibly be scheduled for a January interview based on where your case is in line to be scheduled for an interview.

I am over the moon with excitement with all this information a NVC rep. gave me, and I am hoping for a fast CC!!

I will continue praying for everyone going through this awful process, have hope everyone! God is holding some cases for long periods of time because he is protecting you all from something/its not his timing yet!!

Have a great day everyone!

That's what I wonder at times as well. What will our relationships actually be like when this process is over. There's no way you can come out of this the same person as when it started. It's scary and it steals so much from us. I just want it over already.

This process steals so much away from us. I agree - there has to be a better way. Not sure how we would survive without things like skype and facetime.
