if your mother immigrated then she will stay there and you can apply for a tourist visa and hope they are kind enough to grant you one. It will cost you $160 to find out.

If she was visiting and is on a travel insurance policy then the travel insurance company will probably arrange for her to be flown home. Even a private air ambulance with medical crew (doctor, nurses) will be cheaper than keeping her in ICU in the US for any length of time. It's not about being a burden to the American taxpayer, it's about what is cheaper for the travel insurance company. They will do whatever they can to reduce the amount they have to spend on her treatment. You then won't need a visa as she will be brought home.

Think your best option is to apply with the younger kids and bring the information from the doctors about your mother's illness. Your husband does not need to come inside prove that he will pay for the trip just bring the documentation that shows that he can afford it.

Just out of curiosity, but you seem to make this sound like a DIRE immediate emergency, do you or anyone know how long it takes to even get an interview for a B2 visa? I'm not familiar with the visitor visa procedures, but will you have time to undergo all of the visa steps before a worst case scenario?

It doesn't take any time. It's one interview it gets approved or denied on the spot, the print the visa and off you go

I guess it's different for different countries apparently. Exactly how it works in Kingston and we don't normally have AP for visitor visa. I wish them luck then.

This. Also, here you have to wait at least a week and then go pick up the visa or have it delivered. It's not just handed over on the same day. I would assume in Pakistan there's also a minimum wait time to actually get the visa in your hand, even if AP and everything else went smoothly and quickly.

Ah, right. I wasn't sure, I thought maybe in some countries they had more automatic, same day service.

But apart from AP, it's highly possible there can be varying delivery times depending on the country. And even after you get the visa in had, it has happened that it's printed with mistakes and that can delay it even more. Rare, but it happens. There are just so many variables with time in this process!

Of course you are allowed to read them. However, we do not allow members to spam the board by asking the same question several times, or asking questions about their case in another members' thread- that can confuse members trying to help (see the question someone posted in your thread about a wedding), and takes attention away from the original question. Additionally, some posts you made were in 7+ year old threads, and those members are rarely still aroiund, plus policies change and the advice they were given may no longer apply.

I dont think you gonna have problem in getting tourist visa to see your mother. you have a solid reason to visit your US resident mother who is seriously sick and hospitalized. Take hospital certificate to show it to visa officer. you have strong ties with Pakistan as you will be leaving your children and husband behind. So if you apply alone or with your one small kid, it is better. if you state that your husband will sponsor the trip you have to show his monthly income and bank statement in the support of your claim. Take the marriage certificate as well as the children birth certificates with you in case you need to show these. Also take an affidavit from your husband that he will afford the expenses. Go ahead and apply. Dont worry too much. Best of luck.

Im very sad to announce that my visa was rejected, my heart is shattered to million pieces, I wasn't asked for any documents and the interview lasted merely a few seconds and the CO said I'm sorry I hope your mother gets better but at this time we can't issue a visa for you, I couldn't even question as I was crying.

As I got out of the embassy and turned on my phone I was informed that my mother has just passed away in the ICU I felt like the earth and sky have shattered into a million pieces and I am going to be drowned, I wanted to run back to the embassy and beg the counselor to please let me go for her funeral so I could see her face one last time.

Please tell me if I should apply again with new evidence of her death and what will my chances be? I am so lost and nervous that I truly don't know what is the right step for me at this time.
