April 2013 - sent petition for citizenship

September 2013 - interview, recommended for approval

....

Waiting for oath ceremony...still!

I guess it comes a point where you just have to let it be. Worrying about this for over a year would have simply wasted the time. I have my GC, I don't have to leave, I missed the midterm elections. So what? I slip into a depression until I receive my oath ceremony? Ain't nobody got time for that

good luck

You know what would be awesome? If people said "yeah, that sucks, I'm sorry you feel that way" when someone expresses her sadness, anger or frustration with the system instead of criticizing her and saying "oh yeah, look how bad I have it" or "your situation isn't as bad as you think."

You don't know. You just don't freakin' know how bad it can be in someone else's head.

If you can't handle empathy, at least try sympathy.

And for real, #### the timeline. It doesn't help anyone worth a damn.

Canadianmama, I hope everything works out for you soon, love.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sympathy -- Sympathy -- Must have experienced the same thing, thus giving you an angle of advantage when trying to console someone, as you've experienced something similar.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/empathy -- Empathy -- The ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes & feel their pain, even though you've never experienced specifically what they have & possibly have not even experienced something similar.

To the OP, I empathize with you & hope your journey will be over soon.

Anyone dealing with this? Finding the wait to be driving me insane. I wish I could just sleep for a month. I don't know what I will do if something doesn't work out.

As you haven't given any information about your situation, it is very hard for vjers to give you feedback. I saw that you were approved.Congrats! However, what else did the IO told you and what did he/she wrote on the form that he gave to you. Did it state that a decision can not be made, need more information etc? If not, your case is just waiting for a supervisor to double-check in order to ensure that everything is done that is needed to finalize your case. Have a great weekend and don't try not to stress yourself.

Dont worry things will be fine, just have faith and think good and then good will happen :)

I am sorry to ask a question in your topic but after reading some posts I am a little scared.

If a person fails in citizenship, can't he apply again for citizenship?

If a person fails in citizenship, you cannot stay anymore in USA??

If you - God forbids - failed the citizenship, you would be able to reapply immediately (although not recommended because they failed you for a reason, so most would wait it out a bit until the reason is figured out). You will not be deported because 10-year GC is sufficient enough for your stay. Do not commit any crime though as you can be deported as a GC holder.

Not sure why you'd label it as "depression". It happens to those that are extremely impatient, including myself!

But what you're talking about is a typical "first world problem". You currently have a citizenship of Canada! You make it sound like you're a citizen of Qatar, Nepal, Nigeria or Guatemala!

Since you've already had your interview, you should receive your Oath ceremony any day!

Good luck!

Well my hubby and kids are Americans. I just feel discouraged. Living here 15 years and not much to show for it as far as rights go. I hate it.

Hang in there, you're almost done!

I have lived in the US for 13 years on work visas, and only applied for my AOS 2 months ago. I should have done this a long time ago, but better late than never. My wife is American and our kids are Dual Citizens.

Canadianmama, I hope everything works out for you soon, love.

Just my opinion, but I think it's perfectly normal to say "your situation isn't as bad as you think". That's the most natural response for anyone to give to try to make someone feel better.

When I fell and scraped my knee as a kid, the first thing my mom would say is "it's not so bad".

When you've got nothing else in the world, people say, "at least you've got your health".

Trying to look on the bright side isn't a criticism, it's an attempt to comfort someone.

Maybe people are different, but if I were feeling bad, having someone point out the good things that I'm overlooking would cheer me up a lot more than someone saying "yeah, that sucks, I'm sorry you feel that way".

But that's just me.

I think we both wish the OP the best of luck.

Sorry you're feeling the squeeze. I see it was noted your interview date was just a couple days ago? Sounds like you were recommended for approval and this has been a long time coming overall for you. The last bit of waiting is killer.

Not you worry though, I'm sure it's fine.

Your future is in the hands of a faceless and unaccountable entity. Of course it is depressing, stressful and creates anxiety. You have to take each day as it comes and focus on what your future will be.

Quite right. I remember when I moved here immigration stressed me out hugely. I still remember very fondly one day when I logged into the USCIS website, as I did constantly, and saw that my wife's green card had been approved. I assumed then mine would be, too (it was two months later). I remember exactly where I was. I was actually on vacation overseas and it was awesome. Definitely had a beer that night (or four). Although things can be appealed, you're always one decision away from major problems by a person you've never met, and so much hinges on it; in some cases job and the country you're able to live in. It's a really major deal.

The original poster here really has nothing credible to worry about given what she's said so far. I'm about to stick my N-400 in the mail and despite being a person prone to worry over minutiae I am utterly confident it will go without foible and I am not in the least concerned about it being denied.

Good luck!
