I'm not starting this topic to offend anybody or to start a beef just for the beef sake. After several months of being on this very helpful forum (it's a life saver in many cases! ), I have this general observation that people do not even bother to read instructions and guides. It seems they don't even bother to use a search engine to look for answers to their questions, but just bluntly create a new topic to ask their question that has been asked 3 to 5 times the very same day. Sometimes there are several topics one under the other(s) about the same thing. It makes the forum bigger and bigger mess every day.

I know this process is long, exhausting and above all confusing at many points. It really is and also has been for me. I always try to help whenever I'm logged in and I'm able to help (when I know how), because this is the main purpose of the forum -- to help and support each other. But even earlier today I read posts in a topic from more experienced forum members that the question about Texas lockobx and Texas Sevice Center comes up way too often and perhaps should be pinned somewhere to be visible. When I browse through the K1 forum, I see more and more replies that are only like "Read the guides" or "Follow this link", because these are basic questions!

It's all there in the Guides, in the Downloads, on the Visa FAQs etc. My plead for new users especially is to first research and read, and then if your question/issue is still not answered or it's very specific to formulate a question on the forum.

I understand what you're saying & MOST questions people have can be found through the guides & search engines. I have educated myself so I am prepared & ready but even I get confused by the way things are worded & I need to ask questions no matter how dumb it may sound. Nobody here wants to make any mistakes and the more I read about people getting RFEs its usually something small. So attention to detail is a must & as well as I've educated myself in everything if I have a question I'm gonna ask because that's exactly what visa journey is for. Good luck on your journey!

I chalk all of this up to folk using a handphone.

I say ditch it, come back to VJ on a PC, instead.

Handphones SUCK for VJ usage, one misses 80 percent of the functionality of the site when using a handphone.

Oh so your point is when folks go on VJ on their mobile devices (like smartphones or tablets) they don't see the full content of the website and hence the mess? I see. That's a very good point I'd say. Still, it doesn't really excuse anybody from doing some research first!

Well I agree with both. VJ users should read more on their own. If you are to be successful, you must do your research! Some things are cut and dried, others are open to interpretation. I am somewhat educated, but still had questions on how to fill some things out. Vj users were a great help. We are all here for the same reason. I am sure there would be less rejections if people would use the guides here and on UCSIS web site.

Everyone accesses information differently. Some search, some don't. I think we should continue to be helpful, even when the question seems obvious. When helping, point to links they should have found, don't answer straightaway. This may have the effect of helping those folks find stuff on their own. But the big benefit, is that those links will come up in searches more towards the top and be more helpful to those who do fend for themselves.

There will always be people who are either unwilling or unable to either search existing FAQ's or use the search function. Sometimes the search function is so clueless that there's an excuse but often it's just laziness and the lack of foresight to that there one question has indeed been asked before, many times before.

Oh that and excessive quoting which is my real bug bear.

The word lazy comes to mind, it cannot be chalked up to smart phones as people have been doing it on this site since long before smart phones. People are just lazy, plain and simple. I do not ask a question unless I cannot find it anywhere on my own.

This whole visa process makes us so stressed out, I fully understand why someone would create a thread for a simple question. I've posted a link to Igor's List a couple of times. The way I see it is more like: I give the information to someone now and this person will hopefully help others in the future. And also, trying to educate them on how to find the information they want.

I have to say, sometimes I get bothered by the amount of "NOA2 APROVED!!!!" threads, but damn sure I'll make one myself when I get mine!
