I am going crazy here!!! I have not heard yet from USCIS!!!! I filed May 16th got my NoA1 may 22nd and now I check USCIS website and it says they are working on May 28th!! That means I am outside normal processing time. I "thought" I filed a service request about a week ago and was expecting a reply with in 15 days only to be surprised today when I call again that they can't find that service request!!! So they have to do a new one and the 15 days will start all over again!! I honestly lost my nerves when I was speaking to the lady. I got my congressman involved and sent them an inquiry she told me they should inquire on my behalf sometime this week and by law, USCIS is supposed to respond by 10 days!!! But I am not sure if she inquired yet. I am going crazy over here. I am just sooooooooo worried. My fiance and I are cousins. Would that cause a delay? It's normal though in the middle east to get married to your cousin. Also, we'll be getting married in Fl. where they allow cousin marriages. I am sooo worried and just going crazy and really depressed now :( What should I do?? Has anyone been in a similar situation????????? :(

You are not far outside of normal processing times. Our I-129F took about 6 months. You are at 6 months and 2 weeks. Relax, it is going to be a while.

As I see VSC are moving so slow,I think you are going to hear something soon,

also regarding the cousins thing's.I hope you don't mention it to the immigrations already,if not, never mention it to any one,

it's not normal for American cousins to get married.

Are you suggesting he commit fraud? It specifically asks on the form if you are related. :bonk:

I do understand his culture more than any one else,

his not committed a crime,so lets help him and make him feel better.

Then why are you suggesting he lie about them being cousins? It isn't illegal in many US states and to lie on the immigration forms would be very very serious.

Just to confirm, it's not where you're planning to get married that matters, it's the laws of the state where you're living. So if it's not legal in the state you live in, you'll be denied.

You DO NOT lie to immigration and to suggest the OP do so is against the terms of the VJ terms of service, not to mention incredibly stupid.

It is legal in some US states to marry first cousins so it's not something to "keep hidden" and I'm sure that USCIS will suspect they're related with the same last name for their parents. It is not uncommon for USCIS to ask for birth certificates for the PARENTS of the applicants to see whether they're related or not.

well,I am only giving an advice,if he did not mention hes engage to his cousin, then never mention it again,

take my advice or leave it,the last same name is not an evidence.lots of people has the same last name and the both from the same country.

being honest....means dined

Thanks Charles!

Seems to me if marrying one's cousin is so important - move to a state where it's legal as apparently the OP has done (FL).

FYI, when I was checking my NOA2 status and it finally said they were processing past my date, that meant that they had finished processing mine, but it still took a good week for the system to update the info and for them to mail it out. Use the K1 processing times guideline on here for more info and give them a call if you want to see if they have any new info yet. Guaranteed if you check the status website next week, or even friday, it will say they have made a decision. And if the cousin thing is a problem then the decision will be no, but you should know either way within a few days, they just need to post it.
