my fiance was in the US coastguard n he filed a petition for k-1 visa. we received no1 on september 7th 2010, but my fiance passed away 2 weeks ago. my question is is there any steps I should take to cancel the petition?

June 19, 2017: Case is in Line for an Interview
June 25, 2018: USCIS Scheduled an Interview
Aug. 02, 2018: Interview Date- APPROVED!
Aug. 09, 2018: Oath Ceremony

You should contact the consulate / USCIS and report the death of the petitioner. If you are in contact with the family ask that they do it and submit a copy of the death certificate. That way the case should be closed cleanly and not be an issue if in the future you are party to another petition

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

It must be devastating for you at this moment,accept my heartfelt sympathy.It is never something to wish one's enemy let alone a friend.I pray that God will grant you the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.On behalf of VJ family we wish you all the best.As per the petition,Just put a call through to NVC explaining the current situation to them you just must be prepared for any outcome but the goodnews is that it will better your chances in securing a visa in the nearest future as a result of your honesty.Am sure it would have been a different story had it been you guys were already married cos on that platform you may be asked to provide another sponsor.Anyway, I wish you all the best in this trying time but dont forget that God is with you

My fiance was in the US Coast Guard 'n' he filed a petition for k-1 visa. We received NOA1 on September 7th 2010; but, my fiance passed away two weeks ago. My question, are there any steps I should take to cancel this petition?

You can call USCIS and tell them that your finace passed away and you no longer wish to persue immigration to America.

23-DEC-2016 -:- N400 form mailed to Dallas, TX Lockbox (USPS EXPRESS)

27-DEC-2016 -:- N400 form delivered/picked up by USCIS

01-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form fee check cashed by USCIS

04-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form received per NOA1

09-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form NOA1 notice date

14-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form NOA1 on hand through USPS

30-JAN-2017 -:- N400 fingerprint taken

01-FEB-2017 -:- N400 interview schedule process started

26-JUL-2017 -:- N400 interview date set (01SEP2017)

29-JUL-2017 -:- N400 interview letter on hand

01-SEP-2017 -:- N400 interview date - Interview passed

-APPROVED: 6/2/10

93 days from NOA1 to NOA2

-Received NVC case number: 6/9/10/10

-Gave NVC my e-mail address & e-mailed DS3032: 6/10/10

-Received NVC e-mails (DS3032 and AOS Fee)& paid AOS fee: 6/11/10

-AOS Fee shows as PAID & paid IV Bill: 6/15/10

-IV Bill shows as paid: 6/6/10

-Received IV instruction packet: 6/8/10

-Received dox from co-sponsor: 10/14/15/10

-Sent AOS package: 10/18/10

-AOS package received: 10/19/10-J.Desmond

-IV Package mailed out: 11/3/10

-AVR says I have an RFE: 11/5/10

-NVC operator told me what my RFE's are: 11/8/10

-NVC sent checklist letter (for the 2 AOS RFE's): 11/13/10

-NVC operator says the IV package has been entered: 11/18/10

I am very sorry for your loss... :( Call USCIS and let them know you wish to cancel the petition. Idk if they require any info or dox to be sent to them. Good luck and may God be with you tru these hard times...
